DONNELLSON — Blake Davis jump-started Central Lee High School in its baseball game against Super Conference foe New London Tuesday.

Davis was the second batter in the bottom of the first inning in the South Division game when he blasted a home run to center field. Hunter Edlin had a single and Chase Johnson delivered a two-out two-run double for a 3-0 lead.

Johnson shut down the Tigers for five innings by allowing a single hit with nine strikeouts but walked five.

Caedon Newton tossed two innings with a strikeout, no walks and no hits.

Mason Sanders doubled in the fifth inning and scored on Bo Herdrich’s single.

Central Lee is 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the South. It goes to Burlington Notre Dame Friday after hosting Van Buren County Thursday.

New London is 6-4, 2-3.
