The Cowanesque Valley Indians (16-5) concluded their historic 2025 season in the PIAA Class A Quarterfinals, where they fell to the top-ranked Class A team in the state, the Southern Fulton Indians (24-1), by a final score of 5-0 on Thursday, June 5, at Bald Eagle High School.

After the CV Indians dominated on the mound and defense during their historic run, it was the Southern team who would turn in an incredible day in the field with their pitcher Owen Oakman tossing a one-hitter with six strikeouts with a shutout.

CV kept things close early, holding Southern Fulton scoreless heading into the third inning, but their opponents would start to get things going in the middle innings where they scored all three of their runs.

CV’s Aryen Morgan would take the start on the mound and tossed two scoreless innings before allowing a run in the third, but allowed just four total hits and struck out two batters.

Dave Hess would enter the game for CV in the middle of the run for the Southern team and went two innings allowing four runs (two earned) and striking out one.

Southern did their damage in the fourth and the fifth innings, scoring four of their five total runs in the game during those frames.

Dan Smith finished the game on the bump for the CV squad, and tossed one scoreless inning in the top of the seventh to give his team a final chance, but were turned away as they saw their season come to a close.

It was a tough day for the CV offense, who after piling on 12 runs in their first State Playoff game were held to just one total hit on the day by Morgan.

The Indians season comes to a close with several impressive achievements, including an NTL Small School Title, their first ever District 4 Class A Title as well as winning their first State Playoff game in program history.

They return nearly their entire team to the fold next season, with only Loagan Stickler set to graduate with a loaded team set to return to the diamond during the 2026 campaign.
