According to Brendan Kuty of The Athletic, the New York Yankees could be getting some reinforcements before their series against the Boston Red Sox.

Per Kuty, designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton didn’t rule out making his season debut against the Red Sox at Fenway Park over the weekend.
“New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton didn’t rule out potentially making his season debut vs. the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park this weekend,” he wrote.
Stanton has been out for the entire campaign due to elbow injuries, a concerning situation for the Yankees. However, they’ve still been one of the better teams in Major League Baseball, and arguably the best in the American League.

The Yankees sit at 40-25 as of June 11, holding a four-game lead in the American League East.

According to Kuty, Aaron Boone also didn’t rule out a return, stating that he’d likely have to play one more rehab game, after which the Yankees will make their decision.
“Boone told reporters in Kansas City that Stanton would likely play another rehab game Wednesday at Somerset but didn’t forecast beyond that. Boone also didn’t rule out a return for Stanton during the Boston series.”
Stanton’s injuries have been a factor for the Yankees in recent years, something the Red Sox could’ve benefited from had they played better.
However, instead, the Red Sox are nine games behind the first-place Yankees.

When the Yankees get Stanton and others back in their lineup and rotation, they should be an even better team.
That’s the harsh reality for the Red Sox, but something they understood when it happened a few months ago.
