The man who took a terrifying tumble onto the field at PNC Park <\/a>spoke out for the first time since the incident on April 30.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kavan Markwood told TribLive<\/a> on Wednesday that he was \u201call right\u201d even though he had \u201cbroken everything\u201d due to the fall.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t really sleep. I have a lot of back pain,\u201d he told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Markwood fell during the April 30 game between the Pirates and Cubs and remained in at Allegheny General Hospital receiving treatment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He told the outlet that he would be talking more about the whole situation after he\u2019s released from the hospital in roughly a week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think when I get home I\u2019ll just put ice on it,\u201d Markwood said about his injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Allegheny General Hospital\u2019s chief medical officer Dr. Allan Philp told reporters on Wednesday that Markwood had \u201cprogressed well.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s at a point now where he\u2019s off the breathing machine, he\u2019s out of the intensive care unit, and is preparing to move on to the next step, which will be physical therapy, rehab,\u201d Philp said, according to WTAE.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Markwood\u2019s sister, Taryn, told the outlet that he had started to walk and she expressed gratitude for the response the family has gotten since.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very grateful that I have him still,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A new angle of the incident painted a clearer picture of what had occurred.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new video, from a security camera<\/a> inside the stadium, showed Markwood jumping up in the air to celebrate a play and falling, hitting his abdomen on the railing and falling over.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The game was delayed 10 minutes while Markwood was treated and transported off the field.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Following the game, Pirates chairman Bob Nutting expressed sadness over the accident.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are all deeply saddened and truly heartbroken after the terrible accident that occurred last night,\u201d he said in a statement. \u201cIt was one of the most difficult moments many of us have ever experienced. We are devastated. Pirates baseball is a community, and our fans are like family. In times like these, we must come together, support one another, and keep him and his loved ones in our prayers.<\/p>\n
