Despite their 9-1 loss to the Astros Wednesday afternoon, the Brewers have largely been able to overcome injuries, especially to their starting pitchers.<\/p>\n
Chad Patrick, who picked up the win Tuesday night, is one of the big reasons why.<\/p>\n
Patrick has been in other organizations (Arizona and Oakland), but the Brewers do it differently, especially when it comes to pitching.<\/p>\n
\u201dI think there’s a come comfortability level here,\u201d said Patrick. \u201cThey\u2019ve created a good name for pitching and the coaching staff has been awesome.”<\/p>\n
Patrick is a native of Indiana. He made the Brewers opening day roster after initially being told he was being sent to Triple A Nashville. Patrick won the Triple A pitchers\u2019 triple crown in 2024, leading the way in wins, strikeouts and earned run average. With Brandon Woodruff nearing a return, just don\u2019t expect Patrick to be a self-promoter about staying in the rotation.<\/p>\n
“Just doing my job, doing my part,\u201d said Patrick. \u201cTrying to help us win and stay in ballgames.\u201d<\/p>\n
Patrick is 26. Originally a fourth round pick by Arizona in 2021. He says Brewers pitching coach Chris Hook has been instrumental in his work this season.<\/p>\n
“Me and Hookie, we\u2019ve got a good relationship going on right now,\u201d said Patrick. \u201cHe\u2019s an awesome dude. Funny. I like I like to goof around. He likes to goof around, too. So, just having that player player-coach relationship has been good.”<\/p>\n
