Outfielder\/first baseman Luke Raley is currently on a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Rainiers, while outfielder Leody Taveras is also with the team after clearing waivers<\/a> and accepting an assignment to Tacoma.<\/p>\n Both players displayed good signs over the weekend.<\/p>\n The 30-year-old Raley is looking to return from a right oblique strain that sidelined him in late April, and so far is 4 for 11 in three games with the Rainiers. That includes a solid 3-for-4 performance with a double and a run scored Sunday.<\/p>\n Raley began his rehab assignment last Thursday, going 0 for 4 as Tacoma\u2019s designated hitter. He next played on Saturday, going 1 for 3 while manning right field for five innings. And in his strong game Sunday, he played first base for seven innings.<\/p>\n Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said last Friday<\/a> that Raley would need to play some more games with Tacoma this week before the M\u2019s decide if he\u2019s ready to return to the club. The Rainiers will begin a six-game home series against the Albuquerque Isotopes at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, while the M\u2019s are wrapping up a homestand with games Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon against the Red Sox. The Mariners will then open a 10-game road trip on Friday at Chicago\u2019s Wrigley Field.<\/p>\n Raley hit .243 with 22 home runs, 11 stolen bases and a .783 OPS in his first season with the Mariners in 2024. This year with Seattle, he\u2019s hitting .206 with two homers, two steals and a .669 OPS in 24 games.<\/p>\n Taveras, meanwhile, has hit the ground running after being designated for assignment for the second time this year. The 26-year-old former highly-touted prospect made his Tacoma debut Friday, and has gone 7 for 12 with three RBIs, a walk and no strikeouts in three games since. He had his moments for Seattle, such as a tying RBI single in the eighth inning to help Seattle beat the Athletics in his team debut on May 7, and a late go-ahead home run in a win over the White Sox on May 21.
