{"id":112317,"date":"2025-06-18T05:48:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T05:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/112317\/"},"modified":"2025-06-18T05:48:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T05:48:11","slug":"joe-torre-to-serve-on-aaron-boones-al-staff-for-mlb-all-star-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/112317\/","title":{"rendered":"Joe Torre to serve on Aaron Boone&#8217;s AL staff for MLB All-Star Game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the reigning pennant-winning manager, Aaron Boone will be in the dugout leading the American League squad for the All-Star Game next month in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>He will not be the only manager there associated with the Yankees.<\/p>\n<p>Boone successfully recruited Joe Torre to join him as an honorary coach (along with the Guardians\u2019 Stephen Vogt) for the festivities.<\/p>\n<p>Torre has been around the Yankees during spring training the past few years because Boone \u2014 Torre\u2019s former third baseman \u2014 continued to invite him and persuaded him back into uniform, Torre even making a pitching change in March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know our guys love being around him,\u201d Boone said before <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/17\/sports\/yankees-shut-out-again-by-angels-as-scoreless-streak-hits-29-innings\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Yankees\u2019 4-0 loss to the Angels<\/a> in The Bronx on Tuesday. \u201cAnd what gets me excited is I know he\u2019s enjoyed it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.8515625;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36273428\" width=\"502\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/los-angeles-angels-vs-new-106625924.jpg\" alt=\"New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone in the dugout.\" class=\"wp-image-36273428\"  \/>Yankees manager Aaron Boone will lead the AL in this year\u2019s All-Star Game.<br \/>Charles Wenzelberg \/ New York Post<\/p>\n<p>So during spring training, Boone talked with MLB to get permission to invite Torre, and the league \u2014 with whom Torre works as a special assistant to the commissioner \u2014 approved.<\/p>\n<p>Boone broached the All-Star Game idea to Torre and received his answer quickly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked him, \u2018Would he consider coming?\u2019 And right away, he was like, \u2018Yes,\u2019 and seemed really excited about it, seemed moved by it,\u201d Boone said. \u201cWhich could not have gone better in my eyes. \u2026 So I\u2019m excited to have the skipper with us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36273430\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/yankees-great-joe-torre-smiles-88247459.jpg\" alt=\"Joe Torre waves to the Yankee Stadium crowd during the 2024 Old Tiimers' Day.\" class=\"wp-image-36273430\"  \/>Joe Torre waves to the Yankee Stadium crowd during the 2024 Old Tiimers\u2019 Day.
