The Mets rotation has added injury to insult after its toughest series of 2025, as\u00a0Tylor Megill<\/a>\u00a0has landed on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow sprain.<\/p>\n

According to Laura Albanese of\u00a0Newsday<\/a>, Megill has not suffered any ligament damage and will be shut down for seven to 10 days due to inflammation and then reevaluated. Reliever\u00a0Justin Garza<\/a>\u00a0has been called up to take Megill\u2019s spot on the roster.<\/p>\n

Megill has struggled lately, pitching to a 5.79 ERA since May, a significant drop from his 1.74 ERA heading into that month.<\/p>\n

This injury comes at a difficult time for the team, who last week put\u00a0Kodai Senga<\/a>\u00a0on the IL due to a hamstring strain and has seen\u00a0Frankie Montas<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Sean Manaea<\/a>\u00a0struggle in their rehab outings.<\/p>\n

Montas, in theory, would be an ideal candidate to replace Megill in the rotation, except the team needs to see another start in the minors from their offseason acquisition before making any decisions.<\/p>\n

According to Mike Puma of the\u00a0New York Post<\/a>, the team is \u201crooting hard\u201d for Montas to \u201cshow something\u201d in his next start in Syracuse on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Either way, both Sean Manaea and Montas are no-gos for Friday\u2019s start against the Phillies. Instead, Carlos Mendoza<\/a> confirmed the team will use a spot starter, a one-and-done for somebody.<\/p>\n

Of note, Nolan McLean<\/a> is slated to start this weekend in Syracuse\u2019s rotation. While Syracuse has him penciled in as their started for Friday, Mendoza confirmed Manaea will get the ball for the Triple-A team that night. McLean is an intriguing option, as is Blade Tidwell<\/a>, who made his MLB debut earlier this season, as he is already on the 40-man roster. However, the Mets can roll with someone like Brandon Waddell<\/a> and make it a bullpen game, depending on how the series in Atlanta unfolds.<\/p>\n
