The Baltimore Orioles announced Wednesday<\/a> that they have recalled left-hander Trevor Rogers from Triple-A Norfolk to start against the Tampa Bay Rays at George M. Steinbrenner Field.<\/p>\n

Rogers impressed in a spot start for Baltimore on May 24, delivering 6 1\/3 scoreless innings against the Boston Red Sox with five strikeouts, though he took a no-decision.\u00a0Despite the strong performance, Rogers has struggled at Norfolk this season, posting a 5.46 ERA with 26 strikeouts against eight walks over 29 2\/3 innings.<\/p>\n

Interim manager Tony Mansolino expressed optimism about Rogers’ return. \u201cWe\u2019re really optimistic,” Mansolino said. \u201cI always ask the pitching guys how Trevor looked after every start [in Norfolk], and they\u2019ve been really, really bullish on how good he has looked.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrevor is a proven pitcher in the big leagues. He kind of looks like himself 1750285629. I think he probably looks more like the pitcher they probably traded for, so we\u2019re really excited to see him.”<\/p>\n

Rogers, a former National League All-Star with the Miami Marlins in 2021, was a standout rookie, finishing runner-up for NL Rookie of the Year. That season, he recorded a 7-8 record with a 2.64 ERA and 157 strikeouts overs 133 innings. Since then, Rogers has struggled, going 7-24 in his major league career.<\/p>\n

Rogers was traded to Baltimore<\/a> on July 30, 2024 in exchange for Connor Norby and Kyle Stowers. With Cade Povich sidelined due to a hip injury, Rogers could see multiple starts for the Orioles. Wednesday night’s outing will mark his sixth major league appearance with Baltimore.<\/p>\n
