A three-run home run definitely gave Karpathios an RBI in the ninth; as a matter of fact, he got three.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Miguel Mendez made the start for the TinCaps, and the right-hander had what can be characterized as a gutsy outing. Mendez allowed five walks and four hits, but only surrendered one run. Mendez executed when he had to, getting himself out of jams in the first, second, and fifth innings. Mendez at one point retired eight in a row, but only struck out one batter all night. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/register\/player.fcgi?id=barnet000sea&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=eastvillagetimes.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-06-20_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sean Barnett<\/a> entered in the sixth and worked out of a bases-loaded jam, stranding two inherited runners. Boston Bateman started for the Storm, and the left-hander struck out six batters in five innings of work. As mentioned before, Xavier Ruiz allowed the winning run to score, balking in a run to end the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lineup performed well in a close game, taking a lead early and being able to rally back. Chase Valentine led off the game with a double and came in to score on a wild pitch from Quakes starter Sterling Patrick. They fell behind 2-1 after eight innings, but Ryan Wilson gave the team hope with a ninth-inning double.
