El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 12-11 in 10 innings vs Reno) (38-34 on the season)<\/p>\n

Forrest Wall<\/a> \u2013 3-for-5, Walk-off RBI Single<\/p>\n

Mason McCoy<\/a> \u2013 1-for-6, Grand Slam<\/p>\n

Jackson Wolf<\/a> \u2013 2.1 IP, 8 H, 10 R, 3 BB, 2 K (63 pitches \u2013 38 strikes)<\/p>\n

Jackson Wolf was torched for 10 runs in 2.1 innings of work. The left-hander allowed eight hits, with all eight hits going for extra bases against the left-hander. Wolf again led with the four-seamer, and the approach did not work. The Chihuahuas\u2019 bullpen performed incredibly well in relief, allowing one run in 7.2 innings of work. Ron Marinaccio<\/a> was the lone reliever to allow a run in the game. Eduarniel Nunez<\/a> earned the win, and he earned it out there, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings and navigating the extra-inning runner with ease.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The offense delivered a valiant performance in the game, starting the comeback immediately. Luis Campusano<\/a> continues to perplex, as he had three hits and three RBI in the game. Clay Dungan<\/a> had two RBI in the game, and Mason McCoy got the team to within two with a grand slam. Mike Brosseau<\/a> would tie the game on a solo home run, and the game would go into extra innings. The team got two runners on base in the tenth inning, and Forrest Wall hit his third base hit of the night, a single to deep right-center to score Rodolfo Duran<\/a> to end a wild comeback win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jared Kollar<\/a> \u2013 4 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K (61 pitches \u2013 40 strikes)<\/p>\n

Right-hander Jared Kollar delivered a strong yet abbreviated start, striking out a season-high batters in four innings of work. Kollar allowed two runs on five hits in his outing, but most encouragingly for the right-hander, he was staying in or close to the strike zone. The only runs allowed by Kollar came on a two-run home run by Joshua Hatcher. Andrew Moore<\/a> struck out four in 1.2 scoreless innings, and Jose Geraldo<\/a> struck out three in 1.1 innings. Ethan Routzahn<\/a> tossed 1.2 scoreless in relief, with Jake Higginbotham<\/a> getting the final out, the Missions recorded on the mound. <\/p>\n

The Missions had another challenging day at the plate, this time facing right-hander Josh Stephan<\/a>. San Antonio was only able to record five hits in seven innings against the RoughRiders starter, with Francisco Acuna recording two singles. Romeo Sanabria drove in a run in the fourth inning to bring the score to 2-1. Marcos Castanon<\/a> and Devin Ortiz<\/a> each had a single on the night. Brandon Valenzuela<\/a> went 1-for-4 as the DH, but the team was unable to do much else offensively. While Valenzuela\u2019s ninth-inning single put the tying run on base, the Missions never got the runner to second base, with Wyatt Hoffman<\/a> striking out to end the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 12-1 vs Dayton) (31-34 on the season)<\/p>\n

Braedon Karpathios<\/a> \u2013 2-for-4, Three-Run Home Run<\/p>\n

Brandon Butterworth<\/a> \u2013 3-for-4, Triple, Single, Three Runs Scored<\/p>\n

Miguel Mendez<\/a> \u2013 5.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 5 BB, 1 K (85 pitches \u2013 48 strikes)<\/p>\n

One day after a rainout, the TinCaps looked rejuvenated out on the field, scoring 12 runs against Dayton. Seven of the team\u2019s nine starters got at least one base hit, with the team\u2019s 3-4-5 hitters posting multi-hit effort. Jack Costello<\/a> gave the team a lead with a two-run double in the second, and the team knocked Dayton starter Jose Montero<\/a> out of the game in the third inning. Rosman Verdugo<\/a> hit an RBI double, and Ryan Jackson<\/a> had his first High-A hit with a two-run double. Oswaldo Linares<\/a> hit his first home run of the season in the fourth inning, with both Kai Roberts<\/a> and Brandon Butterworth driving in a run on RBI singles. Braedon Karpathios drove in a run on a double play, which did not give him an RBI. A three-run home run definitely gave Karpathios an RBI in the ninth; as a matter of fact, he got three.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Miguel Mendez made the start for the TinCaps, and the right-hander had what can be characterized as a gutsy outing. Mendez allowed five walks and four hits, but only surrendered one run. Mendez executed when he had to, getting himself out of jams in the first, second, and fifth innings. Mendez at one point retired eight in a row, but only struck out one batter all night. Sean Barnett<\/a> entered in the sixth and worked out of a bases-loaded jam, stranding two inherited runners. Barnett struck out three batters as well, a promising sign for the Padres\u2019 two-way player. Ruben Galindo<\/a> and Sam Whiting<\/a> tossed a scoreless frame each, both striking out one batter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 3-2 vs Rancho Cucamonga) (29-37 on the season)<\/p>\n

Lake Elsinore sent a tie game into the bottom of the ninth against the division-leading Quakes, but Rancho Cucamonga walked off the game against Xavier Ruiz<\/a>. Boston Bateman started for the Storm, and the left-hander struck out six batters in five innings of work. Bateman continues to rack up swings-and-misses, as he has struck out 25.4% of batters faced over his last five starts. Igor Gil<\/a> tossed three innings with four strikeouts in relief, allowing one unearned run in the process. As mentioned before, Xavier Ruiz allowed the winning run to score, balking in a run to end the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The lineup performed well in a close game, taking a lead early and being able to rally back. Chase Valentine led off the game with a double and came in to score on a wild pitch from Quakes starter Sterling Patrick. They fell behind 2-1 after eight innings, but Ryan Wilson gave the team hope with a ninth-inning double. With Victor Figueroa<\/a> pinch-hitting, Wilson advanced to third on a wild pitch, and Figueroa grounded a baseball to shortstop to score Wilson and tie the game. Lamar King<\/a> Jr drew two walks and hit a single while also stealing his 10th base of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

ACL Padres (Won 10-5 vs ACL Royals) (10-25 on the season)<\/p>\n

Yoiber Ocopio<\/a> \u2013 3-for-4, Two Home Runs, Five RBI<\/p>\n

Kale Fountain<\/a> \u2013 1-for-3, Two-Run Home Run<\/p>\n

Adan Moreno<\/a> \u2013 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K (36 pitches \u2013 23 strikes)<\/p>\n

The ACL Padres struck early and with authority, winning 10-5 over the ACL Royals. Adan Moreno made the start, striking out three of nine batters faced over two innings. Winyer Chourio<\/a> earned the win with three innings, averaging 91-93 mph on his heater and sequencing his curveball to good effect. Jesus Lopez<\/a> allowed no runs in two innings, and Yovannki Pascual<\/a> allowed a run in the eighth while averaging 95 mph on his fastball.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kale Fountain opened the scoring for the Padres off Royals right-hander Justin Dunn<\/a>, turning on a curveball to left-center field, hitting his first home run of the season. Fountain scored three runs in the game, walking twice as well. Yoiber Ocopio had himself a career night, hitting two home runs, a two-run single, and a sacrifice fly for dessert. Ocopio\u2019s three hits all clocked in at exit velocities over 100 mph, with his single reaching 109.2 mph off the bat. Luis De Leon<\/a> had four hits out of the leadoff spot and scored two runs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

DSL Padres Gold (Lost 5-4 vs DSL Red Sox Red) (7-5 on the season)<\/p>\n

Fabian Alcantara<\/a> \u2013 1-for-3, Single, Sac Fly, Three RBI<\/p>\n

Deivid Coronil<\/a> \u2013 1-for-4, RBI Single<\/p>\n

Joseph Herrera<\/a> \u2013 3 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 3 K<\/p>\n

The Padres Gold were scheduled for a seven-inning game, but a 3-3 stalemate after seven sent the game to extras, where the team lost 5-4. Joseph Herrera started for the Padres Gold, throwing three innings and allowing three earned runs. The left-hander struck out three and walked three, and has struck out 22.4% of batters he has faced this season. The 5-foot-8 Herrera is still early on in his development, but could continue to show strikeout potential as the year goes on. Sonora native Jesus Castro<\/a> threw three scoreless innings in relief, keeping the Red Sox scoreless. Jose Ortega<\/a> was dealt with the loss, allowing a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fabian Alcantara continues to be a menace at the bottom of the Padres\u2019 lineup, as he finished 1-for-3 with a single and three runs driven in. Alcantara gave the Padres Gold a 2-0 lead on a two-RBI single. Deivid Coronil went on to tie the game in the seventh inning. With the Padres Gold trailing 3-2, Coronil grounded a single to the right side to tie the game with two outs. Jhoan De La Cruz<\/a> singled and scored a run, while Moises Valdez<\/a> finished with a double as part of a multi-hit effort.\u00a0<\/p>\n

DSL Padres Brown (Won 13-9 vs DSL Orioles Black) (6-5 on the season)<\/p>\n

Andres Garza<\/a> \u2013 2-for-4, Two RBI<\/p>\n

Abraham Bastidas<\/a> \u2013 2-for-2, Double, Single, Three RBI<\/p>\n

Dalvi Nunez<\/a> \u2013 0.1 IP, 2 H, 5 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 0 K<\/p>\n

Despite a short start from Dalvi Nunez, the Padres Brown were able to make a furious comeback to win 13-9 against the DSL Orioles Black. Nunez recorded just one out, allowing four earned runs (one run against Nunez was unearned). Victor Pilar<\/a> performed valiantly in relief, tossing 3.2 innings and allowing one unearned run. Pilar struck out three and walked three. Randoll Cruz<\/a> picked up the win with an inning of relief, and Wilfred Paca<\/a> closed out the win with two scoreless frames.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The offense saw contributions from up and down the lineup. Abraham Bastidas led the team with three RBI, driving in runs on a single, double, and sacrifice fly. Andres Garza had a two-RBI single as part of a 2-for-4 day. Sebastian Pena<\/a> reached base three times and scored each time, also driving in a run on an RBI single. Tom Guerrero<\/a> scored two runs, drawing two walks in the win. <\/p>\n
