{"id":120365,"date":"2025-06-21T12:35:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-21T12:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/120365\/"},"modified":"2025-06-21T12:35:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-21T12:35:10","slug":"royals-might-trade-for-marlins-outfielder-with-elite-bat-speed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/120365\/","title":{"rendered":"Royals Might Trade For Marlins Outfielder With Elite Bat Speed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_szjrwonuq\">The Kansas City Royals should be aggressive this July in looking to strengthen their outfield via trade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_epol5hgtg\">While the Minnesota Twins have been linked to a trade for a talented left-handed-hitting outfielder, there\u2019s a compelling case for the Royals to swoop in and secure this player for themselves. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_4t8fboysy\">The Athletic\u2019s Jim Bowden <a class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_1gn6yjz\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6437995\/2025\/06\/20\/mlb-trade-deadline-american-league-wild-card-team-scenarios\/?source=emp_shared_article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">recently highlighted<\/a> this potential trade idea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_o94ouy6uo\">&#8220;The Twins have made it clear to opposing general managers that they are looking for a left-handed-hitting outfielder,&#8221; Bowden wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_7jnefb96t\">&#8220;(Jes\u00fas) S\u00e1nchez is one of their trade targets. He has slashed .251\/.324\/.412 with seven doubles, seven homers and seven steals in 53 games. Last year he hit .252 with 18 home runs and 64 RBIs. He ranks in the 92nd percentile in bat speed and the 76th percentile in average exit velocity. S\u00e1nchez, 27, is under team control through 2027.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_vlradyxoe\">While Bowden\u2019s analysis focuses on the Twins, the Royals have just as much reason to pursue S\u00e1nchez from the Miami Marlins. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_0toxkd04d\">S\u00e1nchez could provide Kansas City with a cost-controlled, high-upside bat to complement Bobby Witt Jr and Maikel Garc\u00eda in the lineup. He fits perfectly on the team&#8217;s timeline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_n48956l15\">The Royals\u2019 front office, led by J.J. Picollo, has shown a willingness to make bold moves to accelerate their contention around Witt. Stealing a possible Twins target in S\u00e1nchez would be a savvy play. <\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_3o0kx26v6\">S\u00e1nchez has been with the Marlins his entire career. He&#8217;s making $4.5 million this season with Miami.
