The Boston Red Sox received some brutal news prior to Saturday\u2019s loss to the San Francisco Giants.<\/p>\n
Kutter Crawford has been shut down once again, according to manager Alex Cora.<\/p>\n
Crawford, 29, hasn\u2019t pitched in a game this season due to knee and wrist issues<\/a>, and was sent back to square one after tossing his second bullpen session of the week Friday. The Red Sox will send the right-hander from Fort Myers, Fla. \u2014 where he was rehabbing \u2014 back to Boston for further testing<\/a> in the coming days.<\/p>\n \u201cHe wasn\u2019t able to generate velocity,\u201d Cora said Saturday, per ESPN\u2019s Jesse Rogers. \u201cThat\u2019s a concern. We\u2019ll know more next week.\u201d<\/p>\n Crawford made more starts than anyone in baseball in 2024, but was never able to get out of the starting gates this season due to persistent knee issues that plagued him over the course of the offseason.
