Padres minor league affiliates wrapped up their weekly slates, going 0-4 to close out the week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 12-4 vs Reno) (38-37 on the season)<\/p>\n

Luis Campusano<\/a> \u2013 3-for-5, Double, Single, Three RBI<\/p>\n

Yonathan Perlaza<\/a> \u2013 2-for-5, RBI Double<\/p>\n

Kyle Hart<\/a> \u2013 4 IP, 9 H, 9 R (7 ER), 1 BB, 1 K (62 pitches \u2013 39 strikes)<\/p>\n

Reno\u2019s lineup knocked around the Chihuahuas\u2019 pitching staff for 12 runs in a 12-4 El Paso loss. Kyle Hart took the mound for the Chihuahuas, but took the brunt of the scoring. Hart allowed nine runs (seven earned) in four innings and 62 pitches of work. Batters swung early and often against Hart, and the left-hander allowed four extra-base hits in the loss. Hart has struggled mightily since returning to El Paso and sports a 7.71 ERA in June. Austin Krob<\/a> threw three innings in relief, and the former TCU left-hander allowed three earned runs in three innings, striking out three. Krob generated whiffs in 8 of 15 swings against his slider (53%), and a whiff rate of 38% altogether. He also reached 95.3 mph on his fastball, a season-high. All three of Krob\u2019s offerings sat at ~2 mph faster than their season averages, which could be something to watch for going forward. Jose Espada<\/a> struck out two in two scoreless innings of shutout baseball.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The lineup didn\u2019t have too much going outside of strong individual performances. Luis Campusano had a three-hit game, driving in three runs in the process. Campusano remains elite at Triple-A despite his much-maligned performance at the MLB level this season. Yonathan Perlaza had a two-hit game, which included an RBI double. Perlaza continues to be a \u201cbarrel king\u201d with his ability to hit the ball hard, but he continues to have one of the PCL\u2019s highest whiff rates at 36.4%. Forrest Wall<\/a> and Mason McCoy<\/a> each had doubles, with each scoring two runs in the game. Emil Turbi<\/a>, called up from Rookie ball, was 0-for-2 with two walks in the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

San Antonio Missions (Lost 8-1 vs Frisco) (39-30 on the season)<\/p>\n

Kai Murphy<\/a> \u2013 2-for-3, Two Singles<\/p>\n

Luis Patino<\/a> \u2013 2.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 3 K (57 pitches \u2013 32 strikes)<\/p>\n

San Antonio dropped their series finale against Frisco, scoring only one run to back up starter Luis Patino. Francisco Acuna went 1-for-5 with a double and scored the team\u2019s lone run in the fourth inning. Moises Gomez<\/a> drove in Acuna on a sacrifice fly, but that was all the scoring for the Missions. Ripken Reyes<\/a> had two singles in four at-bats, and has reached base at a .344 clip in 27 games as a Mission. Devin Ortiz<\/a> and Kai Murphy both hit two singles in the game. Murphy is in the midst of his best month of the season, hitting .318 with a .475 OBP. Romeo Sanabria<\/a> was 0-for-3 with a walk, while Brandon Valenzuela<\/a> went 0-for-4 while grounding into a double play.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Luis Patino had his first rough start of the season, lasting 2.2 innings and allowing five earned runs. Patino was living in the strike zone, as he walked and struck out three batters, but a long third inning saw Patino depart with the bases loaded and trailing 3-0. Patino was able to get soft contact for pop-ups and ground ball outs, but batters were peppering line drives across the field for their base hits. Down 3-0, Jose Geraldo<\/a> entered the game and on his third pitch allowed a two-run single to extend the Frisco lead to 5-0. Ryan Och<\/a> delivered 2.1 scoreless innings, striking out two and retiring all seven batters he faced. Tyson Neighbors<\/a> allowed a home run and two earned runs in an inning of work, and Manuel Castro<\/a> allowed a run on two hits in an inning of work in the loss.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Fort Wayne TinCaps held an 11-4 lead after five and a half innings, only to get BABIP\u2019ed ad nauseum in the bottom of the sixth inning, losing 12-11. Luis Gutierrez lasted 1.2 innings, with a pitch count north of 30 in the second inning prompting his exit. Gutierrez allowed one run in his outing, and while he left with the bases loaded and two outs, Ruben Galindo<\/a> was able to strand the runners. Bodi Rascon<\/a> allowed two runs in two innings of relief after Galindo went 1.1 innings. Sean Barnett<\/a> recorded one out in the sixth inning, allowing four runs on five hits and an error. Barnett had a rough time locating his pitches out of the stretch, and an error by Leo De Vries on a double-play grounder did not help matters. Cole Paplham<\/a> relieved Barnett but allowed a game-tying home run to Anthony Stephan<\/a> before walking in the tying run five batters later. Sam Whiting<\/a> exited the bases-loaded jam with no more damage allowed, but the damage had already been done.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Leo De Vries had his second consecutive multi-hit game, recording two singles and three RBI in the game. Ethan Long<\/a> drove in two runs on a double in the second inning. Jacob Campbell<\/a> drove in three runs on two hits and a bases-loaded walk. Braedon Karpathios launched his eighth home run of the season in the fifth inning, a two-run homer to center field. Karpathios is in the midst of his most complete month at the plate, hitting .281 with a .361 on-base and .438 slugging percentage in 64 at-bats. Every member of the starting lineup reached base at least once in the game. Ryan Jackson<\/a> drove in a run on a hit-by-pitch, reaching base twice in the game.<\/p>\n

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 6-3 vs Rancho Cucamonga) (30-39 on the season)<\/p>\n

B.Y. Choi<\/a> \u2013 2-for-3, Three-RBI Double<\/p>\n

Will Varmette<\/a> \u2013 3.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 5 K (76 pitches \u2013 44 strikes)<\/p>\n

Will Varmette battled through 3.2 innings against the California League\u2019s best-performing offense this season, striking out five batters against the Quakes. Varmette allowed a two-run home run in the first inning of the game, but was able to settle in through the second inning. While Varmette did not have the best command of his stuff, he was able to push through to give his team length. Braian Salazar<\/a> allowed the tying run to score in relief, and tossed 1.2 innings of relief. Salazar allowed the go-ahead run to score in the fifth inning, and he allowed two more runs to score in the sixth, finishing with three runs allowed in 1.2 innings of work. Vicarte Domingo pitches 2.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing no hits and striking out five batters.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lamar King Jr continues to rake for the Storm, as he had his 16th multi-hit game of the season. King Jr went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles. Defensively, it was not as easy, as the Quakes stole five bases in six attempts against him. B.Y. Choi had another strong day at the plate, finishing with yet another bases-clearing double and three runs batted in. Choi has been a valuable part of the Storm\u2019s roster, playing all over the diamond while hitting .347 in June. Ryan Wilson<\/a> was 1-for-3 with a run scored, but the rest of the lineup was held hitless. Cobb Hightower<\/a> did not play in the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n
