Hopes were running high entering the 2025 MLB season for the\u00a0Baltimore Orioles<\/a>. With a hustling, solid young team in place, the Orioles saw themselves getting off to a great start.<\/p>\n

Injuries to the pitching staff, plus a lack of solid production up and down the lineup, have bitten Baltimore in a bad way. As Orioles fans know, their rough start to this season cost Brandon Hyde his managerial job.<\/p>\n

Players like Gunnar Henderson and Jackson Holliday were not tearing the cover off the baseball in the season’s first two months. While they have turned things around a bit, the Orioles have been looking up from the bottom of the American League East.<\/p>\n

Baltimore has shown signs of improvement recently, going 17-10 in their last 27 games. But the Orioles lost two of three games in a weekend series against the New York Yankees<\/a> at Yankee Stadium. If one looks at their past 162 games spanning the 2024 and 2025 seasons, then Baltimore is just 75-87,\u00a0The Associated Press<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

Orioles hampered with injuries, slow start to this MLB season<\/p>\n

Then, let’s take a look at the Orioles’ injury situation. Former No. 1 overall draft pick Adley Rutschman has gone on the injured list. Pitcher Grayson Rodriguez has been out all season. Meanwhile, Zach Eflin has a 5.46 ERA. Outfielder Colton Cowser and infielder Jordan Westburg have missed a lot of playing time, too.<\/p>\n

What about the Orioles’ free agency signings? They added Charlie Morton, who has been pretty mid in his outings. Baltimore lost Corbin Burnes to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Their pitching has been suspect from Day 1 this season.<\/p>\n

Entering Monday’s action, the Orioles are 6.5 games out of a possible postseason spot. That’s some good news. Yet FanGraph isn’t putting a lot of hope in Baltimore getting back to postseason play. FanGraph gives the Orioles just a 3.7% chance of making it into the MLB playoffs this season.<\/p>\n

Interim manager Tony Mansolino has been doing his best to get Baltimore’s ship righted from the get-go. He’s got his work cut out for him as the dog days of summer start to creep up at this time.<\/p>\n
