{"id":132942,"date":"2025-06-26T17:50:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T17:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/132942\/"},"modified":"2025-06-26T17:50:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T17:50:10","slug":"walker-monfort-promoted-to-rockies-executive-vp-in-front-office-shakeup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/132942\/","title":{"rendered":"Walker Monfort promoted to Rockies executive VP in front office shakeup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DENVER \u2014 The Colorado Rockies have promoted Walker Monfort, the oldest son of club co-owner Dick Monfort, to executive vice president in a front office shakeup that also includes plans for team president Greg Feasel stepping down at the end of this year.<\/p>\n<p>Walker Monfort moves into the EVP role immediately and officially assumes the job duties in January of 2026 after a transition period over the back half of this season, according to the team.<\/p>\n<p>Walker Monfort has been the Rockies\u2019 vice president of corporate partnerships for the last 11 years and with the club for 16.<\/p>\n<p>Feasel has been with the Rockies for their entire 30-year history. He\u2019s been the team\u2019s president since 2021 after serving as its VP of sales and marketing and later executive VP and COO.<\/p>\n<p>The Rockies are having a historically bad season. Is it affecting people beyond Coors Field?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Greg has been a pillar of this organization since its earliest days,&#8221; Dick Monfort said in a statement. &#8220;His leadership and vision helped shape not only the Colorado Rockies organization, but the entire baseball community throughout the Rocky Mountain region. He has been instrumental in our many successes over the years and has been a strong and steady presence throughout the past three decades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the same statement, Dick Monfort said his son \u201cbrings a deep understanding of this organization &#8211; earned through his 20 years of experience working both within and alongside every department of our operation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The leadership changes come in the throes of what could become one of the worst seasons in modern baseball history for the Rockies, who stood at 18-62 and in the MLB cellar when the moves were announced.<\/p>\n<p>They also come just days after Charlie Monfort, the brother of Dick Monfort and co-owner of the Rockies, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/2025\/06\/22\/charlie-monfort-rockies-owner-dick-monfort-sober\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">told Denver7\u2019s media partners at The Denver Post that the club needs &#8220;a new set of eyeballs\u201d<\/a> in the front office.<\/p>\n<p>Dick Monfort didn\u2019t disagree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s not only Charlie\u2019s opinion, it\u2019s the public\u2019s in general, and I get it,\u201d he told the paper. \u201cThere is a criticism, which is fair, that we are very loyal, insular, and we promote from within.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to say the team needs \u201csomebody who has a fresh opinion\u201d and that he is \u201cnot opposed to bringing people in from the outside.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Three days after that article was published, the Rockies announced Walker Monfort\u2019s promotion from within.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Walker] offers a fresh, forward-looking mindset, and we\u2019re confident his perspective, experience and leadership will benefit the club in the months and years to come,\u201d Thursday\u2019s statement from Dick Monfort read.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Less than a week after Dick Monfort said maybe the team needs someone from the outside to come in to help change things, he promoted his son to EVP.
