{"id":145025,"date":"2025-07-01T20:56:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T20:56:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/145025\/"},"modified":"2025-07-01T20:56:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T20:56:11","slug":"york-space-systems-becomes-colorado-rockies-first-ever-jersey-patch-sponsor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/145025\/","title":{"rendered":"York Space Systems becomes Colorado Rockies&#8217; first-ever jersey patch sponsor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">The Rockies and York Space Systems have reached a 5 1\/2-year deal for the Denver-based aerospace and defense technology company to become the franchise\u2019s first-ever jersey patch sponsor. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">\u201cIt\u2019s been a long-time coming,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/06\/26\/walker-monfort-elevated-to-rockies-evp-with-feasel-stepping-down\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/06\/26\/walker-monfort-elevated-to-rockies-evp-with-feasel-stepping-down\/\">Rockies EVP Walker Monfort<\/a> said. \u201cYork is going to be synonymous with the Rockies\u2019 brand. We want York to be with us forever, and I think our goal is to make it work for them to where there\u2019s no reason they shouldn\u2019t be.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">The deal starts today and runs through 2030, with the York logo appearing on all Rockies jerseys. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">The Rockies will receive $3.25M in 2025, $5.8M in 2026, $5.95M in 2027, $6.1M in 2028, $6.25M in 2029 and $6.4M in 2030. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">The deal includes media, branding and community engagement elements such as TV content, commercial placements, and social and digital storytelling highlighting space and defense innovation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">At Coors Field, York will have in-venue signage, including third baseline and LED placements. It will also have naming entitlement of the Suite Level starting in 2026. Additionally, York will be the sponsor of the Rockies\u2019 \u201cWire Cam\u201d broadcast feature. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">\u201cWe just want more people to know about who we are and what we\u2019re doing,\u201d York CEO &amp; President Dirk Wallinger said. \u201cWe plan to be around for a while, and quite frankly I think the Rockies are going to be heading in the right direction. They have a lot of good players. I think there\u2019s promise there. And it\u2019s a good opportunity to secure up the relationship now, because I think things are going to head in a great direction.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">Playfly Sports brokered the deal. Monfort said the Rockies have been working with Playfly Sports on their jersey patch sponsor for 2 1\/2 years. Initial conversations with York took place on Opening Day. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">As other teams struck their own jersey patch deals, the Rockies were able to see how the market developed, Monfort said. It also gave them a better opportunity to understand their local media situation, as they transitioned from Warner Bros. Discovery to MLB\u2019s TV umbrella. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">\u201cWe can\u2019t just depend year after year on a rights fee. We have to kind of create that revenue stream ourselves,\u201d Monfort said. \u201cA deal like York is great. We definitely wanted to find the right partner, someone we could trust for the long-term.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-marketing-and-sponsorship \">Playfly EVP\/Global Partnerships Paul Asencio said Senior Manager of Corporate Partnerships Tyler Hammaren actually discovered York through the Rockies\u2019 LinkedIn page. A York employee engaged with a Rockies\u2019 post, prompting Hammaren to send a LinkedIn message to Wallinger, kicking off the process. \u201cI said, \u2018Tyler, you could\u2019ve given me a million guesses.
