Miguel Cienfuegos<\/a> \u2013 3 IP, 7 H, 8 R (6 ER), 1 BB, 4 K (62 pitches \u2013 38 strikes)<\/p>\n

The Chihuahuas suffered a blowout loss in Albuquerque, losing by thirteen runs. Miguel Cienfuegos started in his first turn in the rotation and lasted three innings. Cienfuegos succeeded in generating soft contact, but right-handed batters had some success against him. Cienfuegos struck out four batters and looks likely to remain in the rotation. Kevin Kopps<\/a> struggled in the high altitude, allowing five runs in 0.1 innings. Jason Blanchard<\/a> threw the bulk of relief innings, allowing four runs in 2.2 innings, and Austin Krob<\/a> struck out four in two innings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tim Locastro and Mike Brosseau each had three-hit performances for the Chihuahuas. Locastro finished with a triple and an RBI single. Brosseau hit a double and also recorded an RBI single of his own. Brandon Lockridge<\/a> hit an RBI double in the game, and Forrest Wall<\/a> hit an RBI single of his own. Luis Campusano<\/a> had two singles in the game, but also made two errors behind the plate, with each throwing error allowing a run to score.\u00a0<\/p>\n

San Antonio Missions (Lost 9-3 vs Corpus Christi) (43-34 on the season)<\/p>\n

Marcos Castanon<\/a> \u2013 2-for-3, Home Run, Double, Two RBI<\/p>\n

Nerwilian Cedeno<\/a> \u2013 1-for-4, Double, Run Scored<\/p>\n

Victor Lizarraga<\/a> \u2013 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K (32 pitches \u2013 17 strikes)<\/p>\n

The Missions saw Victor Lizarraga make his second start coming off injury, and the right-hander delivered two innings of scoreless baseball. Ryan Och<\/a> tossed 1.2 innings of relief, but allowed four runs (a season high). J.B. Wendelken<\/a> allowed two runs in 1.1 innings of relief, and Andrew Moore<\/a> fired two innings of relief, but allowed a three-run homer in the sixth. The deficit saw the team turn to Wyatt Hoffman<\/a> for the top of the ninth, where he threw a scoreless inning.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Marcos Castanon had an ice-cold June (.175 avg, .500 OPS), but one wouldn\u2019t have been able to tell from his swings in this game. Castanon finished 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI double. Devin Ortiz<\/a> was 1-for-5 with a single and a run scored. Nerwilian Cedeno has struggled since his promotion at the start of June, but doubled and scored a run in the game. Kai Murphy<\/a> reached base twice, once via walk and once via single.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Leo De Vries had another multi-hit game, launching his fourth triple of the season in the game. De Vries scored a run in the game as well, and is 6-for-14 in his last four games. Braedon Karpathios<\/a> drew three walks in the game and now has a .368 on-base percentage this season. Jack Costello had two singles in the game, driving in a run. Oswaldo Linares<\/a> also hit two singles in the game. The team finished 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position in the game, stranding eleven runners.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sam Whiting started for the TinCaps, making his first start since May 29 in San Antonio. Whiting lasted 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Whiting threw 30 of his 49 pitches for strikes, striking out one batter. The former UC Santa Barbara right-hander has yet to find a consistent role with Fort Wayne, and depending on promotions in the next month, his full-time role remains to be seen. Sean Barnett<\/a> had another rough outing, allowing five runs in 0.1 innings of relief. Luis German<\/a> allowed a run on four hits, striking out two. Nick Wissman<\/a> threw a scoreless 1.1 innings, his seventh consecutive scoreless outing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Patience and strong pitching led the Storm to a second consecutive victory over the visiting 66ers. Storm hitters drew an astonishing 12 walks in the game, with one being a go-ahead bases-loaded walk to Cobb Hightower<\/a>. Chase Valentine drove in the first run of the game with a fourth-inning RBI single. Yendry Rojas drove in the team\u2019s third and final run in the eighth inning on an RBI double. Kaden Hollow<\/a> drew three walks in the game, and Victor Figueroa<\/a> drew two walks as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kash Mayfield started for the Storm and tossed two innings of scoreless ball. Mayfield didn\u2019t have his A+ command in his start, but worked around it with three strikeouts. Kleiber Olmedo<\/a> threw three innings of relief behind Mayfield, and the young right-hander continues to be impressive. His fastball was clocking in at 95-96 mph, and his control allowed him to tunnel the slider to produce some truly uncomfortable swings by the 66ers. Olmedo wound up striking out five batters and pitched to a 2.07 ERA in his last three games. Vicarte Domingo earned the win despite allowing a game-tying solo homer. Igor Gil<\/a> came out for relief and tossed three innings of one-run baseball with three strikeouts to earn his first save with the Storm this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
