The Phillies captured the 21st Major championship by downing the number one seeded Brewers 10-0 to wrap up the season.<\/p>\n

The second seeded Phillies were breezing along in the double elimination playoff format headed into a final game with the Brewers, who were coming out of the \u201closer\u2019s bracket.\u201d<\/p>\n

One more win, and the series would be wrapped up.<\/p>\n

However, the Brewers had other ideas, and squeaked out a 6-5 win to force another game in what would be the first of two final games.<\/p>\n

The second time around, the Phillies would make a statement early, throwing up a six spot in the first inning to jump out ahead.<\/p>\n

They followed that up with another outburst, resulting in four more runs.<\/p>\n

With a 10-0 bulge and hard-throwing Jake Pownall on the hill, the Brewers had lost their mojo and could not mount a serious attack to put a dent in the score.<\/p>\n

The game was called after four innings due to the \u201cmercy rule\u201d and the Phillies were finally able to take a deep breath and celebrate their good fortune.<\/p>\n

Danny Hudecki, Jake Pownall, Nate Marano, and Johnny Panichello each scored twice to pace the Phils\u2019 offense, while the defense made all the plays in the field, including a stellar diving catch by Lukas Walton to end the game.<\/p>\n

With Pownall and Hudecki throwing aspirin tablets on the mound, the Phillies had a definite edge in the pitching department.<\/p>\n

The coaching staff was as good as it gets with Drew Hudecki at the helm, and Tim Breen, Rose Hudecki, Jon Henry, and Mark Achuff adding solid support.<\/p>\n
