The Dodgers<\/a> on Thursday claimed infielder\/outfielder CJ Alexander off waivers from the Yankees<\/a>, addressing their lack of infield depth on the 40-man roster in the wake of Max Muncy\u2019s left knee injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old Alexander between Triple-A and the majors this season has started 25 games at third base, 17 games at first base, nine games in left field, and one in right field. In Triple-A between Las Vegas and Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre hit .239\/.338\/.439 with 10 home runs and an 86 wRC+.<\/p>\n

Alexander appeared in 10 major league games with the Royals and A\u2019s since the start of last season, going 4-for-25 with 11 strikeouts. He began this season with the A\u2019s before getting claimed off waivers by the Yankees on June 8. New York designated the left-handed batter on Monday.<\/p>\n

He has 12 days of major league service time, and is using his second option year in 2025. So far this season, Alexander has been optioned once to the majors as it relates to the five-option limit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Alexander gives the Dodgers another infield option on the 40-man roster. Outfielder Esteury Ruiz was called up from Oklahoma City on Thursday with Muncy getting placed on the injured list<\/a>. The other position players on the 40-man roster are outfielder James Outman and catcher Hunter Feduccia. <\/p>\n

Outfielder Steward Berroa was on the 40-man roster but was designated for assignment Thursday to make room for Alexander.
