Christian Yelich is playing in his eighth season for the Milwaukee Brewers, following five years with the Miami Marlins.\u00a0He was selected by Miami in the first round of the 2010 MLB Draft and made his major-league debut in 2013.<\/p>\n

The Brewers acquired Yelich from Miami ahead of the 2018 season\u2014seeking to cut payroll and rebuild a weak farm system\u2014and he immediately flourished in Milwaukee.<\/p>\n

In his first year as a Brewer, he captured his first NL MVP award, carried the team to the NLCS and came within one game of the World Series, falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games.<\/p>\n

Yelich has been named an All-Star three times as a Brewer, won two Silver Slugger awards and helped lead Milwaukee to four NL Central division titles.<\/p>\n

Milwaukee has been on a tear recently, finishing June with a 16\u20139 record\u2014the second-best mark in MLB.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Thursday\u2019s series finale against the New York Mets, the Brewers decided not to include Yelich in the lineup, with no official explanation for his absence.<\/p>\n

After a season-ending back surgery in July 2024 limited him to just 73 games, Yelich has mostly served as the team\u2019s designated hitter in 2025 to prioritize his health and extend his availability in the daily lineup.<\/p>\n

This season, the 33-year-old veteran is batting .259 with a .797 OPS and has already collected 17 home runs and 61 RBIs.<\/p>\n

As Milwaukee sits at 48\u201338\u2014three games behind the Chicago Cubs for the divisional lead\u2014the Brewers will rely on Yelich\u2019s middle-of-the-order presence down the stretch in his age-33 season to power their push for a postseason berth.<\/p>\n
