The Boston Red Sox have been one of the more interesting teams across baseball this season. Boston is fighting for a playoff spot, both in the American League East division and within the wild-card race in the AL.<\/p>\n

But as the trade deadline quickly approaches, the Red Sox could be very active. Boston may be looking to bring in another starting pitcher to help bolster the rotation.<\/p>\n

The Red Sox starters have been a bit up and down, but adding more talent could help things. Boston has some intriguing prospects that they could send out, making a trade potentially more likely.<\/p>\n

In a new trade idea from Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report<\/a>, the Red Sox add a former All-Star to the pitching rotation. Reuter has Boston land right-hander Sandy\u00a0Alc\u00e1ntara to bolster the starting pitchers.<\/p>\n

“However, the 2022 NL Cy Young winner still represents a potential impact addition to a team’s rotation for the playoff push. His 2.74 ERA in 23 innings over his previous four starts looked like a step toward regaining his frontline form.<\/p>\n

“The 29-year-old has a $17.3 million salary for the 2026 season and a $21 million club option for 2027, so he is more than just a rental. Any return package will need to reflect that remaining control,”\u00a0Reuter wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Alc\u00e1ntara could give this Red Sox rotation a massive jumpstart, even with his inconsistent season. When he’s on,\u00a0Alc\u00e1ntara is one of the better pitchers in the game.<\/p>\n

Injuries have taken up his last few years, but Miami could still sell high on his upside.\u00a0Alc\u00e1ntara could be the difference between not making the playoffs and Boston being a potential contender this season.<\/p>\n
