With the New York Yankees<\/a>\u2019 starting rotation depleted by injuries, they will turn to a Massachusetts native for help. <\/p>\n

The Yankees<\/a> plan to call up top prospect Cam Schlittler, The New York Post reported over the weekend<\/a>. The right-hander will make his Major League Baseball debut this week against the Seattle Mariners. <\/p>\n

Schlittler, who\u2019s from Walpole, has a 2.82 ERA in 15 appearances between Double-A and Triple-A this season. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe looks like a top-of-the-rotation starter,\u201d Yankees director of pitching Sam Briend told NJ.com<\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s no doubt in my mind he could be an option in New York before the end of this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Yankees were in need of rotation help. Gerrit Cole underwent Tommy John surgery in March. Clarke Schmidt will likely need the same surgery, which will put his 2026 season in jeopardy. Luis Gil has yet to pitch for New York this season due to a lat injury. Ryan Yarbrough is dealing with an oblique injury. <\/p>\n

Schlittler is the Yankees\u2019 top pitching prospect and Baseball American has him ranked<\/a> at No. 89. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear when exactly the 6-foot-6 right-hander will pitch, but the Yankees begin their series against Seattle on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium. <\/p>\n
