Apparently, the LSU Tigers baseball program is good. With 2 National Championships in 3 years, and 3 College World Series Finals appearances since 2017, that seems pretty obvious. But beyond the team play on the field, the program has turned into a machine that produced MLB<\/a> Draft picks.<\/p>\n

Just 2 years ago, the LSU<\/a> Tigers produced the first ever 1-2 punch at the top of an MLB Draft. They sent Paul Skenes to Pittsburgh with the #1 overall pick, and Dylan Crews to the Washington Nationals with the #2 overall pick. Becoming the first college program to pull that off.<\/p>\n

LSU is also one of just 4 schools to have multiple #1 overall picks in the MLB Draft (Arizona State, Vanderbilt, and Oregon State are the others). Skenes was the #1 pick in 2023, and LSU legend Ben McDonald was the #1 overall pick in 1989. The Tigers are the only college program with multiple pitchers who have been drafted #1 overall.<\/p>\n

Arizona State has had 4 players taken #1 overall in the MLB Draft, which is top of the list. LSU, Vandy, and Oregon State are all tied with 2 players taken #1 overall. If LSU sees a top pick this year, they will get closer to Arizona State’s record.<\/p>\n

Fox Sports is reporting <\/a>that oddsmakers have slotted LSU pitcher Kade Anderson<\/a> as the favorite to be the #1 overall pick in this week’s MLB Draft<\/a>. His odds are currently at 150, and the second best odds belong to high school prospect Ethan Holliday at +110. Of those who aren’t familiar with betting odds, the difference between those two betting odds go like this: if you bet $10 on Kade Anderson and win, you get $16.67 total in your payout, if you bet Ethan Holliday and win on $10, you would get $21 in your payout.<\/p>\n

When Is The 2025 MLB Draft?<\/p>\n

The MLB Draft will start with the first round on July 13th, and expect both Anderson and Holliday to hear their names called…the only question is, who goes first?<\/p>\n
