I know the Royals have often been a disappointing and frustrating watch this year, but man, this year\u2019s Pittsburgh Pirates squad is despressing as hell. They have arguably the best pitcher in baseball in Paul Skenes, who has been great since day one. And yet, they\u2019re 38-53 with very little chance they\u2019ll improve significantly in the next few years. One could say that they\u2019re the Pirates who didn\u2019t do anything in the offseason, as they\u2019ve only got a payroll of $92 million. <\/p>\n
If you don\u2019t understand that reference, well, I\u2019m sorry\u2014or maybe I\u2019m not, I dunno. The Pirates Who Don\u2019t Do Anything is a silly song from the show Veggie Tales, a CGI cartoon where vegetables and fruits comedically reenact scenes and stories from the Bible. It was ubiquitous for anyone who went to church in the mid-1990s to mid-2000s. What a weird world.<\/p>\n
Kansas City, however, will avoid Paul Skenes. Hopefully, that means that the Royals\u2019 bats will come alive against a mediocre squad. <\/p>\n
