The quest to the 2024 World Series<\/a> begins Tuesday as the final games of the MLB regular season<\/a> wrapped up Monday.<\/p>\n

The playoffs in the American League are set with the New York Yankees<\/a>, Cleveland Guardians<\/a> and Houston Astros<\/a> locking in the top three seeds, respectively, with the Yankees and Guardians earning first-round byes. The Baltimore Orioles<\/a>, Detroit Tigers<\/a> and Kansas City Royals<\/a> have locked up the three wildcard spots.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>, who have the best record in the major leagues after using more than 40 different pitchers this season, have clinched the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage. The Philadelphia Phillies<\/a>, Milwaukee Brewers<\/a> and the San Diego Padres<\/a> have secured seeds two through four in the National League, with the No. 2 Phillies joining the Dodgers with a first-round bye.<\/p>\n

And after splitting a doubleheader on Monday, both the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets will ride into the postseason.<\/p>\n

National League playoff settled with doubleheader<\/p>\n

The New York Mets<\/a>, Atlanta Braves<\/a> and Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> came into Monday battling for the final two wild-card spots in the National League. The Mets and Braves played an NL East doubleheader after having games canceled due to Hurricane Helene.<\/p>\n

The Mets secured their spot with an 8-7 win in Game 1, which preceded a 3-0 victory from the Braves. Both wins ousted the Diamondbacks from the picture.<\/p>\n
