The 99th pick has a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/mlb-draft-2025-bonus-pick-values\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:slot value;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">slot value<\/a>\u00a0of $773,100.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what Wideman brings to San Diego.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Wideman picked by San Diego\u00a0Padres in 2025 MLB Draft<\/p>\n<p>Wideman, 6-foot-5, 204 pounds, spent two years at Georgia Highlands College and a season with West Virginia in his college career. He won Conference USA player and newcomer of the year in 2024 after batting .398 with 10 home runs, 68 RBIs and 45 stolen bases.<\/p>\n<p>Wideman, the son of former Clemson basketball player Tom Wideman, became the first Division I player with 35 extra-base hits and 45 steals in a season since Tennessee&#8217;s Chris Burke (2001) and Tulane&#8217;s Andy Cannizaro (2001). He earned All-American honors in his junior season.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Wideman&#8217;s size and power makes him a strong hitter and fielder. He doesn&#8217;t strike out often, logging 47 in 2024, but he does have a high chase rate.<\/p>\n<p>He could return to Clemson for his senior year if he doesn&#8217;t receive his ideal signing bonus.
