The ACL Padres loaded the bases against the ACL Guardians with one out in the ninth inning, but could not get the job done in the 3-1 loss on Monday. Luis De Leon<\/a> and Gustavo Marquez<\/a> both went down by the way of the K with the tying run on second base. The ACL Padres team only managed two hits in the game, but did walk seven times as the Guardians\u2019 pitching staff was wild.<\/p>\n

De Leon walked and stole two bases in the game as well as scored the lone run for the ACL Padres. Kasen Wells, on a rehab assignment from Lake Elsinore, doubled in four at-bats. Jesus Castro recorded the other hit in the game for the Padres. Elvis Reyes has had a rough year, but he threw three scoreless innings, striking out four and only allowing two base runners.<\/p>\n

The DSL Padres Brown team got out to an early lead in the first after a throwing error and an RBI-single by Tom Guerrero<\/a>. The DSL Rays team battled back and took the lead in the top of the fourth inning, only to cough it up immediately to the DSL Padres. The DSL Padres held the lead all the way until the eighth inning, when the Rays sealed the game with a four-run inning. 18-year-old shortstop Abraham Bastidas, out of Venezuela, went 2-for-4 in the win. He is hitting .359 with a .934 OPS so far this season and is a name to monitor.<\/p>\n

Dayquer Alfonzo also recorded two hits in the loss, and the 17-year-old is hitting .206 on the year. The DSP Padres were 4-for-11 with runners in scoring position in the loss. Jeuris Guzman continues to look good as the 6-foot-4, 19 19-year-old went two innings, allowing two walks and two hits. He holds a 1.80 ERA in 10 innings pitched this season. Daniel Burciaga<\/a>, a 17-year-old from Mexico, made the start and allowed two earned runs in 3 2\/3 innings pitched. He owns a 3.54 ERA in 15 2\/3 innings pitched this year in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n

DSL Padres Gold (Won 10-7 over the DSL Brewers Blue) (21-10 on the season)<\/p>\n

The DSL Padres Gold team got out to an early lead and held on for a 10-7 win. A seven-run second inning powered the team to the win. In that inning, Isaac Ponce and Fabian Alcantara doubled in runs, and the Brewers\u2019 pitching staff also lost control, throwing a wild pitch and walking in a run with the bases loaded. The Brewers DSL Blue team scored three late runs in the ninth inning to make the game appear closer than it really was.<\/p>\n

19-year-old Fabian Alcantara went 2-for-4 and homered in the game. He owns a .988 OPS on the season and appears he may play in the States eventually. Isaac Ponce doubled, stole a base, and drove in a pair of runs in the victory. He is an 18-year-old catcher out of Venezuela with some upside. Johan Minaya, a 20-year-old right-handed pitcher from the Dominican Republic, pitched four shutout innings on Monday, allowing only two base runners.\u00a0 Minaya has put up a 5.68 ERA in 19 innings this season.<\/p>\n
