The Pohlad family put the Minnesota Twins up for sale<\/a> last offseason. Initially, it looked like the process was going to move quickly, until billionaire Justin Ishbia pivoted<\/a> away from purchasing the club, and instead chose to increase his minority stake in the Chicago White Sox.<\/p>\n Since then, there the signals coming out of Target Field regarding the ongoing sale, have been mixed. Some reports have suggested that a new purchasing group is making their way down the purchasing path. Others have reported that it\u2019s been mostly quiet behind the Twins\u2019 scenes, of late.<\/p>\n Then, during the All-Star Break, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred<\/a> stood in front of MLB media and STRONGLY suggested that the sale of the Minnesota Twins is imminent, or at the least, moving in the right direction. If anyone outside of those directly involved in the sale negotiations\/process would know, it\u2019s the MLB Commish.<\/p>\n LaVelle E. The one thing I found out is that [the Twins have] had people express interest in being part of an ownership group \u2014 to own maybe 10%, or 20%, or 30%.<\/p>\n They really didn\u2019t have a lead dog to be that anchor investor. Apparently that anchor investor has emerged. So, things are moving in a positive direction here. I think they\u2019ve got some hurdles to cross and more meetings to take place. But apparently, they found an anchor investor to be the main person owning the team. That\u2019s definitely a solid development.\u201d<\/p>\n LaVelle E. Neal \u2013 Chin Music Podcast<\/a><\/p>\n How excited should we be about this?<\/p>\n Neal\u2019s unearthing is a substantial development, in what has been an ever-evolving situation. Neal went on to say that the next four weeks could be very interesting, and that he wouldn\u2019t be surprised to see a new owner identified before the end of the 2025 regular season.<\/p>\n That timeline would be a welcomed reality for MN Twins fans who would love nothing more than to enter the upcoming offseason with a new ownership group making the decisions. There could be an interest to bring new voices to the group despite recent promotions<\/a> at the top. With a transition of power it should be expected that there will be a lot of moving pieces.<\/p>\n For everyone involved, from current owners, to new ones, to those employed by the organization and fans like us who just want a baseball team that cares as much about winning as it does turning a profit\u2026 everyone wants some clarity\/finality on this process.
