Padres minor league affiliates went 3-2 on Saturday.<\/p>\n

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 9-7 vs Tacoma) (49-46 on the season)<\/p>\n

Yonathan Perlaza<\/a> \u2013 2-for-4, Two-Run Home Run<\/p>\n

Rodolfo Duran<\/a> \u2013 1-for-4, Three RBI<\/p>\n

Logan Gillaspie<\/a> \u2013 3.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 1 BB, 1 K (71 pitches \u2013 47 strikes)<\/p>\n

Logan Gillaspie allowed six runs in his start against Tacoma, allowing seven hits and two homers. He struck out only one batter in his outing, walking one. Kyle Hart<\/a> came on in relief, allowing two runs in 2.1 innings and being tagged with the loss. Hart struck out three batters in, walking two. Jose Espada<\/a> threw a scoreless inning, and Sean Reynolds<\/a> allowed a homer in one inning of relief.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yonathan Perlaza has been on fire in July, and he continued to hit well, hitting a two-run home run in the game. Luis Campusano<\/a> had three singles, driving in a run. Rodolfo Duran had one base hit, driving in two runs with a single and later drawing a bases-loaded walk. Mike Brosseau<\/a> had three singles and an RBI in the game. Nate Mondou<\/a> had two hits and scored a run, while Forrest Wall<\/a> was 2-for-4 with a run scored.\u00a0<\/p>\n

San Antonio Missions (Lost 5-0 vs Amarillo) (49-40 on the season)<\/p>\n

Francisco Acuna<\/a> \u2013 1-for-4, Single<\/p>\n

Moises Gomez<\/a> \u2013 1-for-3, Single<\/p>\n

Victor Lizarraga<\/a> \u2013 4 IP, 4 H, 4 R (2 ER), 1 BB, 6 K (63 pitches \u2013 43 strikes)<\/p>\n

The Missions offense was MIA on Saturday night at The Wolff, only recording two hits in a shutout loss. The wind was not helpful, as Missions batters had plenty of high fly balls that went to the warning track that would normally be homers. Francisco Acuna continues to be consistent at the leadoff spot, finishing 1-for-4 with a base hit. Moises Gomez had a single as well, and both Romeo Sanabria<\/a> and Kai Murphy<\/a> drew walks in the game.<\/p>\n

Victor Lizarraga threw four innings in his start, allowing four runs. The surface numbers may not look the best, but two of the four runs were of the unearned variety. Lizarraga also struck out six batters in the game, a promising sign. Part of what made Lizarraga effective in 2024 was an uptick in his strikeouts, and if he can rediscover that form (as he did tonight), he will be poised for a resurgent second half. Jared Kollar<\/a> threw 2.1 innings of one-run baseball, striking out one in relief. Kollar has been having his best month of the season in July, posting a 3.75 ERA in 12 innings across five appearances. Tyson Neighbors<\/a> struck out three in 1.2 scoreless relief innings, and has not been scored on in his last five appearances, spanning eight innings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 3-2 in 10 innings vs Lake County) (44-44 on the season)<\/p>\n

Leo De Vries<\/a> \u2013 1-for-4, Go-Ahead RBI Double<\/p>\n

Kaden Hollow<\/a> \u2013 1-for-2, RBI Single, Two Walks<\/p>\n

Eric Yost<\/a> \u2013 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K (77 pitches \u2013 47 strikes)<\/p>\n

The TinCaps won their first extra-inning game of the season thanks in part to a clutch double from Leo De Vries and stellar pitching from Garrett Hawkins<\/a>. Eric Yost started for the TinCaps, and in his first start after the All-Star Break, looked rejuvenated. Yost threw five innings of one-run baseball, striking out five batters. The former Northeastern Huskie walked only two, and help the ball in the yard, generating five of 15 outs on strikeouts. Will Varmette<\/a> pitched three innings in long relief, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three batters. Garrett Hawkins struck out four in two innings, keeping the game tied in the ninth and closing out the win in the tenth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The TinCaps got four hits all day, but seven walks and miscues from the Captains\u2019 defense allowed the team to pull away with a win. Braedon Karpathios<\/a> and Rosman Verdugo<\/a> reached on a single and walk, with Ryan Jackson<\/a> bunting the runners over. With Kaden Hollow at the dish, Captains reliever Alfonzo Humphries balked to score a run. Hollow then singled to score Verdugo for the TinCaps\u2019 second run. Karpathios finished the game with two hits, and Brandon Butterworth<\/a> walked twice in the game. Leo De Vries gave the team a 3-2 lead in the tenth inning with a double, scoring Brandon Butterworth and leading the team to a win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 7-0 vs Rancho Cucamonga) (41-48 on the season)<\/p>\n

Kavares Tears<\/a> \u2013 2-for-3, Two Doubles, Three RBI<\/p>\n

Carlos Rodriguez<\/a> \u2013 1-for-4, Three-RBI Triple<\/p>\n

Bryan Balzer<\/a> \u2013 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K (46 pitches \u2013 24 strikes)<\/p>\n

Bryan Balzer, Kannon Kemp<\/a>, and Johan Moreno<\/a> threw a combined shutout against Rancho Cucamonga\u2019s potent offense. Balzer struck out four batters in three innings of work, allowing only one hit. Balzer\u2019s return to the staff has been a boost for the Storm. Kannon Kemp pitched five shutout innings in relief, striking out five batters, and Johan Moreno struck out two to wrap up the ninth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Carlos Rodriguez hit his second triple of the season, clearing the bases and giving the Storm a 3-0 lead. Kavares Tears had one of his best performances of the season, hitting two doubles and driving in three runs. Kale Fountain<\/a> had his first hit at The Diamond, driving in Tears on an RBI single in the eighth inning. Cobb Hightower<\/a> reached base three times, scoring three runs and stealing two bases.\u00a0<\/p>\n

ACL Padres (Lost 13-6 vs ACL Dodgers) (14-43 on the season)<\/p>\n

The ACL Padres\u2019 pitching staff surrendered 13 runs in a loss to the ACL Dodgers. Josh Mallitz struck out one in one inning of work, allowing a soio homer. Erick Batista<\/a> allowed four runs in 1.1 innings of work, and Jordan Valenzuela<\/a> relieved him with 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball. Darlin Mendez<\/a> took the loss in the game, allowing five runs while recording no outs. Luis De Leon had two hits in the game, drawing two walks and scoring three runs. Alex McCoy hit a two-RBI double in the loss. Jesmaylin Arias<\/a> drew three walks in the game, driving in two runs. Donte Grant<\/a> had two hits, driving in a run, and Ismael Javier<\/a> scored a run in the game. The team drew 11 walks, going 4-for-10 with runners in scoring position.<\/p>\n
