This week\u2019s minor league roundup will only feature the numbers accumulated prior to the start of play on Monday.<\/p>\n
This was the seventh week of minor league play.<\/p>\n
According to FanGraphs (which factors in age and proximity to the big leagues), the overall top hitter in the Rays farm system has changed once again with 23-year old Mac Horvath taking over. Horvath was a 2023 2nd round by pick and acquired by the Rays in the Zach Eflin deal. He has been scorching lately and is currently hitting .250\/.355\/.519 with 8 HR and 8 SB over 124 PA, registering a 141 wRC+. Over his last 11 games, he is hitting .289\/.365\/.822 with 7 HR over 52 PA.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the top pitcher continues to be Ian Seymour, continues to be a model of consistency. He now has a 1.96 ERA | 3.40 FIP with a 32.5 K% & 5.9 BB% over 41 1\u20443 IP; he ranks 12th among all minor leaguers in the power rankings.<\/p>\n
Before we get to the statistical breakdowns. Here is some news or somethings I have noticed from around the Rays system.<\/p>\n
1B Xavier Isaac has only played in one game since the start of play on April 30th. He hasn\u2019t appeared in a game since May 4th.
\nSS Carson Williams hasn\u2019t gotten off to the greatest of starts in Triple-A Durham, but he did show his potential during a game this past week when he clobbered two homeruns an impressive distance; he followed that game up by striking four times in one contest.<\/p>\n
RHP Ty Cummings, who was the PTBNL from the Randy Arozarena trade, has been promoted to Triple-A Durham. Cummings appeared in six games \u2014 two starts \u2014 for Double-A Montgomery, registering a 3.57 ERA | 3.91 FIP with a 25.6 K% & 7.8 BB% over 22 2\u20443 IP.
\nINF Cooper Kinney is a demonstration in how baseball stats can be weird. He has hits in seven of his last nine games, but is only hitting .205\/.205\/.308 over that stretch with a 43 wRC+.
\nInfielders Carlos Colmenarez and Ryan Cermak completed rehab assignments in the Complex League and have been assigned to High-A Bowling Green. Colmenarez hit .320\/.370\/.480 over 27 PA; Cermak hit .474\/.545\/1.211 over 22 PA.
\nSS Gregory Barris has begun a rehab assignment in the Complex League; he is hitting .286\/.444\/.429 over 9 PA.
\nOF Josh Lowe began his rehab assignment and his split it between the Complex League and Triple-A. Thus far he is hitting .250\/.471\/.500 over 17 PA.
\nRHP Santiago Suarez threw one inning before being removed from a game on May 7th. Upon reviewing replay of the half-inning, nothing appeared wrong. But a new pitcher took over the following inning.<\/p>\n
