Third basemen Ke’Bryan Hayes talks about joining the Reds<\/p>\n

The Reds acquired Gold Glove-winning third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes from the NL Central division rival Pittsburgh Pirates.<\/p>\n

The Cincinnati Reds<\/a> snuck one more trade in just minutes ahead of MLB’s 6 p.m. trade deadline. The Reds acquired via trade utility man Miguel Andujar<\/a> of the Athletics<\/a> in exchange for a minor league pitcher, The Enquirer confirmed July 31.<\/p>\n

With the A’s in 2025, the 30-year-old Andujar hit .298 with six home runs in 218 plate appearances. He also posted a .765 OPS.<\/p>\n

Ke’Bryan Hayes: Reds trade for Pirates third baseman<\/a><\/p>\n

Andujar, who is in the final year of his contract, missed more than five weeks, including almost all of June, due to an oblique injury.<\/p>\n

In 2018, Andujar finished second to Shohei Ohtani<\/a> in American League Rookie of the Year voting. Then a New York Yankees<\/a> player, Andujar hit .297 with 27 home runs, 92 RBI and .855 OPS. He remained a Yankees player until he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a>, where he stayed for parts of two seasons through 2023.<\/p>\n

In exchange for Andujar, the Reds sent 22-year-old right-handed pitcher Kenya Huggins<\/a> to the A’s. Huggins was playing at Class-A Daytona in 2025 and posted a 2-2 record with a 3.69 ERA.<\/p>\n

The July 31 trade was the third in less than 30 hours by the Reds ahead of the deadline. Late July 30, and following a dramatic win against the National League West-leading Dodgers, the Reds swapped with the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> for starting pitcher Zack Littell.<\/p>\n

Earlier on July 30, the Reds acquired third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
