The Texas Rangers<\/a> announced a bevy of roster moves Friday to open up roster space for their new trade deadline additions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With relief pitchers Phil Maton<\/a> and Danny Coulombe<\/a> joining the staff, Texas optioned left-hander Jacob Latz and right-hander Kumar Rocker to Triple-A Round Rock.<\/p>\n

Latz had been pitching mostly in a long relief role for the Rangers and making the occasional spot start. He has been effective in that role with a 3.23 ERA across 55.2 innings of work.<\/p>\n

Rocker\u2019s season has been more up-and-down. The former first-rounder has shown flashes, but mostly struggled to the tune of a 5.74 ERA in 64.1 innings. He also spent some time on the IL with a right shoulder impingement.<\/p>\n

Maton (2.35 ERA) and Coulombe (1.16 ERA) are now likely to slot in at the back of the Ranger bullpen. <\/a>They join a unit that ranks second in relief pitcher ERA in the American League.<\/p>\n
