Players were just about ready to take the field at the MLB Speedway Classic<\/a> on Saturday, Aug. 2, but then the rain came in.<\/p>\n

The MLB Speedway Classic<\/a> between the Cincinnati Reds<\/a> and Atlanta Braves<\/a>, set to be the most-attended MLB game ever, is currently in a rain delay after a storm swept in the area of Bristol, Tennessee, at the Bristol Motor Speedway.<\/p>\n

More than 85,000 tickets were purchased for the much-anticipated game, with Tennessee natives Chase Burns and Spencer Strider taking the mound for the Reds and Braves, respectively.<\/p>\n

Here are the latest updates for Cincinnati and Atlanta’s matchup in the first annual MLB Speedway Classic.<\/p>\n

Braves-Reds weather updates at MLB Speedway Classic<\/p>\n

The MLB Speedway Classic was set to start at 7:15 p.m. ET, but the tarp was unraveled at 7:19 p.m. and currently remains on the field.<\/p>\n

Rain is projected to remain in the area for at least until 8:49 p.m. ET, according to AccuWeather.<\/a><\/p>\n

Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona said on the Fox broadcast “it’s gonna be awhile it looks like” after meeting with MLB officials on the field during the rain delay.<\/p>\n

Rain has hit Bristol, Tennessee, on and off throughout the day, and fans are hoping for the rain to clear up so the Reds and Braves can play in the much-anticipated first-ever MLB game in Tennessee.<\/p>\n
