The Texas Rangers scored two runs but the Arizona Diamondbacks scored three runs.<\/p>\n
Jack Leiter got his season ERA under 4.00 at 3.94 on the year with five innings of one-run ball tonight. That\u2019s pretty nifty.<\/p>\n
The Rangers had four hits on the night. That\u2019s not nifty at all. None of the hits came with runners in scoring position, of which there were nine opportunities wasted. Texas scored both of their early runs via well-placed outs to take a lead but, surprise surprise, that lead was never built upon with outs pouring in any time a runner reached base.<\/p>\n
Those early runs just kind of sat like a carrot dangling for Arizona to work toward and eventually they overtook Texas as Robert Garcia blundered his way to the Snakes tying the game in the seventh. With two outs in the ninth, Ketel Marte hit a two strike upper deck solo blast off Danny Coulombe and that was that.<\/p>\n
No fat guy to save Texas in the bottom of the inning and Rangers have their fifth loss of this homestand.<\/p>\n
Player of the Game: Shawn Armstrong had an easy scoreless inning in relief with a couple of strikeouts on 11 pitches. That\u2019s your hero for tonight.<\/p>\n
Up Next: The Rangers and Diamondbacks close out this series with an interesting matchup as RHP Merrill Kelly takes on his former team while Arizona counters with RHP Zac Gallen, who didn\u2019t end up being traded at the deadline.<\/p>\n
