Houston, TX \u2014 On Sunday, Southwest Virginia native and recent Major League Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Billy Wagner was honored by one of his former teams, the Houston Astros.
The vast majority of his career was spent with the Astros after being drafted 12th overall by the franchise in 1993.<\/p>\n

Wagner\u2019s number 13 was retired by the Houston Astros in a ceremony this weekend.
This honor was bestowed upon him following his recent Hall of Fame induction.
Wagner, a 7-time all-star and the Astros\u2019 all-time saves leader, had his number 13 retired, making him the 10th player in Astros history to receive this honor.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving your number put up in a rafter with the greats of the organization is probably set up there, as being a Hall of Famer, because, you know, you\u2019re representing a city, you know, you\u2019re representing your team that you played for. So, it means a lot. I mean, wow, wow. Those guys mean a lot to me, says Wagner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wagner also spent time with the Phillies, Mets, Red Sox, and the Braves, which marked the end of his MLB career in 2010.<\/p>\n
