Walks hurt Parker in the seventh, as two singles, two walks and a fielder\u2019s choice allow the Flyers to get their only runs of the evening. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Kyleigh Harrrison came in to shut the door with the bases loaded, and immediately fielded a comebacker to get a the lead runner and the runner headed to first. A groundout ended the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI just thought I needed to keep the lead, and not overthink it like I usually do,\u201d said Harrison, a freshman. \u201cI just had to pitch it, and I knew my defense would back me up.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
At the plate, eight members of the starting lineup got a hit. Audrey Green was three-for-four with an run scored. Ashtyn Holbrook had a double and a triple for three RBI\u2019s and a run scored. Ellie Hoover was two for three with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. Mara Livingston was two for three at the plate, and Ava Collins had two hits.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Parker gave up six walks, some of which may have had to do with a small strike zone.<\/p>\n
\u201cUmpire had a really tight strike zone,\u201d GC coach Heat Sutton said. \u201cThat takes a lot of pitches away from a pitcher … It\u2019s frustrating, but he called it consistent both sides.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Warhawks traveled to Bowling Green for games Friday and Saturday, winning won and dropping two. Henderson County (25-6) blanked GC on Friday, 4-0.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Saturday, the Warhawks (11-10) fell to Greenwood (28-7) before getting a 6-3 win against Livingston Central (22-5).\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dakota Mullins and Ellie Hoover had two RBI\u2019s a piece, with Mara Livingston and Emma Sutton driving in a run apiece.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hoover and Harrison had circle duty, with Hoover throwing 3.2 scoreless inning with four strikeouts to close out the game, and Harrison throwing 3.1 innings and giving up three runs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Baseball: Warhawks\u2019 win streak hits 10 before loss<\/p>\n
A win against Bullit East on Saturday stretched the Great Crossing Warhawk\u2019s win streak to 10, matching their program record before falling to Beechwood later in the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Eli Adkins had a three run double in fifth to break a 3-all tie and put the Warhawks ahead for good. GC scored five runs in the fifth to erase a 3-2 deficit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Collier Curtis had three hits and threw three one-run innings on the mound, striking out four and taking the win.\u00a0<\/p>\n
GC now sits at 19-7, and they travel up the bypass to Scott County\u00a0 (19-8) tonight at 7 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
