Veteran right-hander Luke Jackson has joined Seattle\u2019s bullpen, while switch-hitting infielder Leo Rivas is also on the bench for the M\u2019s.<\/p>\n Veteran first baseman Donovan Solano was released and right-handed pitcher Sauryn Lao was designated for assignment as part of the Mariners\u2019 moves Monday.<\/p>\n The Mariners are actually carrying just 27 players while outfielder Victor Robles serves a seven-game suspension, which will end after play Friday.<\/p>\n Ford is the No. 40 overall prospect<\/a> and No. 4 Mariners prospect<\/a> per MLB.com. He is also ranked in the top 100 overall by ESPN (No. 65), Fangraphs (No. 67), Baseball America (No. 76) and The Athletic (No. 79).<\/p>\n The No. 12 pick in the 2021 MLB Draft by Seattle, Ford has slashed .283\/.408\/.460 for an .868 OPS in 97 games in Triple-A this year. He hit 16 home runs, 18 doubles, seven stolen bases, 68 runs and 74 RBIs for the Rainiers, with 74 walks to 88 strikeouts. He ranks third in the Pacific Coast League in on-base, fifth in walks, tied for eighth in RBIs, 11th in OPS, 16th in runs, and tied for 16th in homers.<\/p>\n Right-hander Luis Castillo (8-7, 3.75 ERA) will start on the mound Monday for the Mariners against Rays righty Shane Baz (8-11, 5.19 ERA).<\/p>\n The Mariners (73-60) entered September<\/a> up 2 1\/2 games over Texas for the American League\u2019s third and final wild card. Seattle is two games back of Houston for the lead in the AL West<\/a>.
