ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) \u2014 First baseman Rhys Hoskins was reinstated by the Milwaukee Brewers before Tuesday night\u2019s game at Texas after missing 57 games with a sprained left thumb.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cReady to join these guys, try to help finish this thing strong,\u201d said Hoskins, who was listed among the reserves for Tuesday\u2019s game with Andrew Vaughn starting at first base.<\/p>\n

The Brewers went into play with the major leagues\u2019 best record at 89-56, close to clinching a postseason berth.<\/p>\n

Hoskins, 32, was hitting .242 with 12 home runs and 42 RBIs when he was hurt on July 5<\/a>. Vaughn has hit .308 with nine homers and 41 RBIs in 51 games since being acquired from the Chicago White Sox<\/a> on June 13.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow he\u2019ll get in there and how he\u2019ll get his at-bats remains to be seen,\u201d manager Pat Murphy said of Hoskins.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy role will be a little bit more limited at least for what I\u2019m accustomed to,\u201d Hoskins said. \u201cI think I\u2019ve been around enough, professional enough, I\u2019ll be ready when my number\u2019s called. I\u2019m prepared to help the team win every day. I told Murph, those guys: \u2018I\u2019m ready for whatever you have for me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s the right guy, so he understands winning environments and understands we can\u2019t always get what we want,\u201d Murphy said. \u201cIn Rhys\u2019 case, I really want his presence and his leadership. The fact that Vaughn has come on and done so well in these 50 games \u2014 but what a nice thing to have, the experience, the possibilities of Rhys.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hoskins signed with the Brewers<\/a> as a free agent in January 2024 after spending seven years with the Philadelphia Phillies. He missed the entire 2023 season with the Phillies after tearing an ACL in spring training. He\u2019s scheduled to be a free agent again after this season.<\/p>\n

The Brewers optioned infielder-catcher Anthony Seigler to Triple-A Nashville.<\/p>\n
