M\u00e1rquez suffered his 13th loss of the season on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium, allowing five runs on six hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out two. M\u00e1rquez is 1-1 in two starts this season against the Padres, posting a 4.63 ERA with two walks and five strikeouts. In 20 games (18 starts) against the Friars, he has gone 11-4 (Rockies 14-6) with a 4.40 ERA, 29 walks and 119 strikeouts. His 11 wins against them are the most against any opponent with the next closest being the Arizona Diamondbacks and Pittsburgh Pirates (6).<\/p>\n
M\u00e1rquez will face veteran right-hander Yu Darvish (3-5, 5.65 ERA). The 39-year-old is playing in his 13th MLB season, and his fifth with the Padres after spending time with the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers previously (with a half-season stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers). In his last outing against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday, Darvish pitched 5 2\/3 innings and allowed three runs (two homers) on six hits with seven strikeouts in the Padres\u2019 extra-inning 4-3 victory. In 12 starts against the Rockies, Darvish is 4-4 with a 5.48 ERA.<\/p>\n
