The Rangers ended the week on their only loss but otherwise had a fantastic week. They wrapped up their homestand with a series sweep against the best team in baseball, the Milwaukee Brewers.<\/p>\n
Texas is now just two games back in the wildcard and three in the division as they head to Houston for their final series versus the Astros this season.<\/p>\n
And with nearly every starter on the injured list right now, the Little Rascals are really stepping up. Cody Freeman, Michael Helman, Alejandro Osuna and Dustin Harris (before being sent down for Adolis Garcia\u2019s activation) have all be instrumental in the Rangers climbing their way up the standings. Michael Helman even got Texas their first grand slam of the season in game one against the Brewers.<\/p>\n
Not only contributing offensively but defensively too<\/p>\n
The Rangers are playing some really good September baseball, just like they needed to. For what it\u2019s worth, after 150 games last season, they were 71-79 and in 2023 they were 82-68. There\u2019s still definitely work to do and they need to keep the 5-1 weekly record momentum going.<\/p>\n
One thing to keep in mind, while the Rangers are only a couple games behind the Mariners, it\u2019s not beneficial to tie them since Seattle holds the tie breaker. They also hold the tie breaker against Houston. If the Rangers win this series against the Astros then the Rangers have the tie breaker against them.<\/p>\n
This might very easily come down to playoff tie-breaker chaos on the final day of the season.<\/p>\n
