In a press release from the Missoula PaddleHeads of the Pioneer League, former Shreveport and Bossier City baseball star says his new professional baseball contract<\/a> “came a little bit out of left field”.<\/p>\n

Shreveport’s Travinski Calls Houston Astros Signing a Surprise<\/p>\n

Former LSU National Champion, and Shreveport-Bossier guy, Hayden Travinski is getting his first crack at MLB<\/a> affiliated baseball<\/a>. He’s now signed a minor league contract with the Houston Astros. The announcement was made by the Astros this week<\/a>, and Travinski will be heading to the Astros Florida Complex League<\/a> team.<\/p>\n

From Local Standout to LSU Champ, Now an Astro<\/p>\n

During his high school career, Travinski played on both sides of the Red River. Playing four years of varsity baseball between Loyola and Airline, and playing at a high level for both schools. Two time All-State selection, three time All-City selection, and a 2018 Perfect Game All-American. With college baseball on the horizon, he looked south, to Baton Rouge.<\/p>\n

Travinski headed to LSU<\/a>, where he would become a fan favorite for some of the best teams in program history. He got a solid 5 years in for the Tigers (first year was 2020, which didn’t count for eligibility) and racked up some amazing hardware during that time. He was named to the 2023 NCAA Baton Rouge Regional All-Tournament Team, 2024 SEC All-Tournament Team, 2024 ABCA Second-Team All-South Region, and most importantly, was a two time SEC Academic Honor Roll member.<\/p>\n

Of course, he was a part of the 2023 LSU<\/a> National Championship team…one of the best teams in college baseball history. In fact, he was behind the plate to catch the final strike of the national championship season…<\/p>\n

After his senior year, Travinski headed to Missoula, Montana to play for the PaddleHeads.<\/a> He was able to get in 20 games for them last year, hitting 5 extra-base hits and knocking in 14 runs during his time. He returned to Missoula for their spring training this year, but never made it to a game, because the Astros came calling.<\/p>\n

In a release from the PaddleHeads, Travinski said<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis came out of left field, but I\u2019m excited. I\u2019m thankful to Missoula for the opportunity…you never know when your chance will come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next Stop: Astros’ Florida Complex League for Shreveport Catcher<\/p>\n

Now Travinski is on his way to Florida<\/a>, where he will catch up with the Astros Complex League team<\/a>.<\/p>\n
