MT. STERLING, Ill. — Brown County erupted for an 11-run third inning on its way to a 17-13 win over Rushville-Industry on Friday in the Hornets regular season finale.<\/p>\n
The Rockets had a 4-3 lead before Brown County’s ambushed them with 11 runs in the bottom of the third. Rushville-Industry still kept chipping away afterwards, scoring multiple runs in three out of the four next innings.<\/p>\n
With the wind blowing, home runs were flying out of the ball park as Brown County had Matt Boylen and Maverick Henry go yard and Rushville-Industry had Josh Little power up for a blast.<\/p>\n
Boylen also got the win on the mound after starting the game and throwing three innings with four strikeouts, while allowing seven hits, no walks and four earned runs.<\/p>\n
Henry, Connor Flynn and Tyce Fullerton all pitched in relief for the Hornets.<\/p>\n
Henry went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs, while Fullerton went 2-for-4 with a walk, RBI, three runs amd three stolen bases.<\/p>\n
Hornets leadoff hitter Collin Dieterle went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs, while Jack Buss went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Wyatt Kassing went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs, a run and a stolen base.<\/p>\n
Rushville-Industry starting pitcher Bennett Fretueg went 2.2 innings with two strikeouts, while allowing nine hits, four walks and seven earned runs in the loss.<\/p>\n
Up next for Brown County (21-10) is the Class 1A Mendon Unity Regional semifinal game against the hosting Mustangs (12-12) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
