Fanduel Sports Network analyst Chris Welsh talked after the Cincinnati Reds’ 3-1 win<\/a> in their series opener against the Brewers in Milwaukee about the help the Reds got from the New York Mets<\/a> to move back into the National League’s third wild card spot.<\/p>\n

The Mets lost their series opener to the Miami Marlins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“The (Mets) have a problem on their hands because they’re basically out of pitching,” Welsh said during the broadcast, “Unlike the Reds \u2026 the Mets are running out kids that are, like tonight, their starter, Brandon Sproat, had only thrown four games in the major leagues prior to tonight. So it’s two different ballclubs. I think they’re going in two different directions right now. The Reds just have to take care of their own business, and I think that’s where they’ve got their focus.”<\/p>\n

The Mets are scheduled to start Clay Holmes on Saturday against the Marlins’ Eury Perez, and haven’t named a starter Sunday against Miami’s Edward Cabrera.<\/p>\n

The Reds are scheduled to start Andrew Abbott on Saturday against the Brewers’ Robert Gasser, followed by Brady Singer on Sunday against Milwaukee’s Freddy Peralta.<\/p>\n
