Good morning, Mets fans.<\/p>\n

The Mets (82-78)\u00a0fell<\/a>\u00a0to the Marlins (78-82) 6-2 Friday night. New York got out to a 2-0 lead just four batters into the game but couldn\u2019t muster up any offense afterwards. The team\u2019s sloppy defense continued, and it contributed greatly to a six-run fifth inning for the Marlins that put the game to bed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Reds (82-78) won their game over the Brewers (96-64) 3-1 to put the Mets back on the outside looking in. The Mets and Reds once again own the same record, but with the Reds holding the tiebreaker, they have taken back control of the third Wild Card spot. The Diamondbacks fell 7-4 to the Padres, so it\u2019s officially down to two teams.<\/p>\n

As the Mets try to squeeze back into a playoff spot, it was reported late Friday night that they\u2019ve called up flamethrower Dylan Ross<\/a>. Will Sammon of The Athletic<\/a> was first with the news.<\/p>\n

Ross owns a 2.17 ERA across three minor league levels this season. He worked his way back from two UCL surgeries, as discussed in further detail in an exclusive Metsmerized interview<\/a> by Mojo Hill this past summer.<\/p>\n

Ross\u2019s campaign includes a 1.69 ERA over 32 innings in the hitter-friendly International League. He has an 11 K\/9 in that span, although accompanied by a 6.2 BB\/9.<\/p>\n

He adds a weapon to the Mets\u2019 beleaguered bullpen over these crucial final two days of the regular season.<\/p>\n

Brett Baty<\/a>\u00a0left Friday\u2019s game with side discomfort<\/a> after appearing to tweak something on a swing early in the game. The Mets announced after the game that it was an oblique injury, and there\u2019s a fear Baty is done for the season.<\/p>\n

Prior to Friday\u2019s game, manager Carlos Mendoza\u00a0announced<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0Clay Holmes<\/a>\u00a0would start Saturday\u2019s game against Miami and that Sunday\u2019s starter was to be determined. Mendoza, on constructing the rotation, said \u201cthis is literally one day at a time.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Anthony DiComo of\u00a0MLB.com<\/a>, doctors have recommended that\u00a0Reed Garrett<\/a>\u00a0get Tommy John surgery, but he is seeking a second opinion first. Garrett would be out all of next season if he does in fact need the surgery.<\/p>\n

The Braves\u00a0announced<\/a>\u00a0that they claimed former standout pitcher\u00a0Alek Manoah<\/a>\u00a0off waivers from the Blue Jays and transferred\u00a0Ozzie Albies<\/a>\u00a0to the 60-day injured list to make room on the roster. Manoah had a 3.96 ERA in 10 minor league starts this season and last pitched in the majors in May of 2024.<\/p>\n

Baseball Savant<\/a>\u00a0added a feature to pitchers\u2019 pages which displays their pitch mixes to righties and to lefties.<\/p>\n
