DJ LeMahieu showed he has some life left in his 35-year-old body<\/a> on Saturday. The Yankee\u2019s veteran not only hammered his first home run in nearly 10 months, but he also made a tremendous diving, defensive play.<\/p>\n

Still, the Yankees’ infield is a concern, particularly after Oswaldo Cabrera fractured his ankle and will miss the season. Jazz Chisholm, Jr. is expected back sooner or later, which will help, but as the season turns the corner on the first quarter, Yankees GM Brian Cashman is said to be looking for infield help.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Yankees have been looking for a right-handed bat they could put at third base, and there is a growing chorus suggesting Cashman looks within the division. No, there\u2019s no real chance the Red Sox are going to trade Rafael Devers <\/a>to the Bronx; look further north.<\/p>\n

Newsweek\u2019s Andrew Wright is the latest person to suggest<\/a> the Yankees look at dealing for Bo Bichette to play third base. Jim Bowden has predicted that Bichette<\/a> would be the Yankees\u2019 long-term answer at third via free agency.<\/p>\n

The scuttlebutt out of Toronto is that after signing Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. to a long-term extension, the Blue Jays plan to let Bichette walk. <\/a>So, Wright argues with the Blue Jays hovering around .500, they will deal the two-time All-Star.<\/p>\n

Bichette, 27, led the American League in hits in 2021 and 2022, and after a rough 2024 season, he\u2019s bounced back this year with a .294 average and .780 OPS through 44 games.<\/p>\n

So, the Blue Jays could reasonably use Bichette to get a few prospects for the future, but there is a major question mark.<\/p>\n

But remember, the Blue Jays\u2019 front office is on the hot seat<\/a>. They are unlikely to unload talent looking towards a future they may not be a part of, so unless the bottom drops out, it\u2019s doubtful Bichette gets dealt.<\/p>\n
