<\/p>\nIt’s tough to get a feel for where the Boston Red Sox stand in the loaded American League East. 4-6 over their last 10 games, and the below-average play of the Red Sox during the early parts of the season, this team seems to be somewhere in the middle.<\/p>\n
They’ve had stretches where they’ve shown to be an elite team, while other times have suggested that they’re just about average, with their records showing that at 18-18.<\/p>\n

With Walker Buehler now dealing with an injury, and his prior history of dealing with these injuries, it’s something the Red Sox should likely be concerned with.<\/p>\n
Despite only landing on the 15-day injured list, inflammation in his right shoulder certainly doesn’t bring the Red Sox any hope moving forward.<\/p>\n
If the team is looking to contend, which all signs point to that, the Red Sox need to be in a position to make a trade.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, they arguably have the best farm system in Major League Baseball, and there could be a starter available from an American League East team to move those prospects for.<\/p>\n

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Orioles could be willing to move on from Zach Eflin if they don’t turn things around.<\/p>\n
“If the Baltimore Orioles aren\u2019t a contender by the All-Star break, teams will be pouncing on starter Zach Eflin, reliever Seranthony Dominguez and center fielder Cedric Mullins at the trade deadline,” Nightengale wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Orioles might not be willing to trade him to the Red Sox, but it’s also fair to point out that he was on the Tampa Bay Rays prior to being dealt to Baltimore at the deadline last year.<\/p>\n The Red Sox might have to move a decent package, but that isn’t a guarantee, considering he hits free agency at the end of the season. After posting a 2.60 ERA in the second half for the Orioles last year, he’d be a perfect addition to the Red Sox.<\/p>\n
