Rogers will \u201cgive away 250 pairs of tickets\u201d on the morning of each Blue Jays home game day during this year\u2019s postseason starting Saturday, according to Gilbert Ngabo of the TORONTO STAR. Fans can \u201clog into the Rogers social media accounts\u201d where a \u201cspecific location in the GTA will be announced at 8:30 a.m.\u201d The tickets will be given away on \u201ca first-come first-serve basis.\u201d A different location will be \u201cannounced on each game day.\u201d For fans who cannot make it to the announced location, they can \u201cfollow and comment on the Instagram announcement post by 10 a.m. for a chance to win one of 10 pairs of tickets for each playoff game at Rogers Centre.\u201d Rogers is also \u201cgiving away some playoffs tickets exclusively for its subscribers\u201d (TORONTO STAR, 10\/2<\/a>).<\/p>\n

FAN TAKEOVER: In Toronto, Rob Longley wrote the idea of the ticket giveaway is to \u201ctake over an entire section for all in the group fortunate enough to snag a ticket for home games in the Jays\u2019 first return to the post-season since 2023.\u201d The giveaway — which will be for section 509 in deep right field at Rogers Centre — will \u201ccontinue through the ALCS and World Series\u201d should the Blue Jays progress though the way the tickets are distributed \u201cmay change from round to round\u201d (TORONTO SUN, 10\/2<\/a>).<\/p>\n

THROUGH THE STORM: The GLOBE & MAIL\u2019s Cathal Kelly wrote Blue Jays President & CEO Mark Shapiro \u201cis proof that if you hang around long enough, you\u2019ll eventually have your day.\u201d Kelly: \u201cEverybody raked the guy when it was going wrong, so it\u2019s right to praise him when it\u2019s headed in the other direction. … He deserves at least as much credit as anyone else. Probably more.\u201d Shapiro should \u201cbe re-signed to a new contract<\/a>.\u201d The \u201conly measure of success is success\u201d and Shapiro \u201chas provided it.\u201d It is \u201chard to think of someone who\u2019s had that sort of job for that long and not become synonymous with the city\u2019s culture, but Shapiro\u2019s managed it so far.\u201d Maybe there is a \u201cworld in which the Jays do really well here and it creates the conditions for a rapprochement between the team president and the town.
