Unfortunately, it was the only home run of his career.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHappy birthday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/g\/garceri01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-17_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rich Garc\u00e9s<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHappy 54th birthday to former Twins reliever\u00a0Rich Garc\u00e9s. Back in 1990, he became the most recent of only eight teenagers to play for Minnesota. In just his second MLB game, he became the only teenager in Twins history to record a save.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPrior to\u00a0Garc\u00e9s, the last teenager to play for the Twins was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/blylebe01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-17_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bert Blyleven<\/a>\u00a0way back in 1970.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOTD in 1969: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/carewro01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-17_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rod Carew<\/a>\u00a0steals second, third, and home in the same inning\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWith the\u00a0Billy Martin-managed Twins down 2-0 in Detroit,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/tovarce01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-17_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">C\u00e9sar Tovar<\/a>\u00a0singled off\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lolicmi01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-17_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mickey Lolich<\/a>\u00a0leading off the bottom of the third. Then, with Carew up to bat, Tovar was balked to second and then stole third. Perhaps distracted by Tovar, Lolich walked Carew. Then, with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/k\/killeha01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-17_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Harmon Killebrew<\/a>\u00a0at the plate, the Twins executed a double steal, with Carew swiping second and Tovar taking home on the throw. Carew then stole third and home to tie the game. (Killebrew wound up striking out.)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tCarew was the only player to steal second, third, and home consecutively during the 1960s.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSt. Paul native\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/molitpa01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-17_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Molitor<\/a>\u00a0accomplished the feat in the first inning of a game against Oakland on July 26, 1987.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe most recent player to do so was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/d\/delacel01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-17_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elly De La Cruz<\/a>\u00a0on July 8, 2023.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"background-color:#ffffff;color:#282828;font-size:16px;\">\n\tOTD in 2021:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sanomi01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=twinsdaily.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-05-17_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miguel San\u00f3<\/a> hits three home runs\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"background-color:#ffffff;color:#282828;font-size:16px;\">\n\tMiguel San\u00f3 hit three home runs with four RBI in a 5-4 win over the White Sox at Target Field on this date in 2021.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"background-color:#ffffff;color:#282828;font-size:16px;\">\n\tIn the Twins&#8217; first 55 seasons in Minnesota, there were only four 3-HR games (Allison, Killebrew, Oliva, and Morneau). There were\u00a0NINE\u00a03-HR games over six years from 2016 to 2021 (Kepler x2, Rosario, Dozier, Buxton, Cruz x2, and\u00a0San\u00f3).\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"background-color:#ffffff;color:#282828;font-size:16px;\">\n\t\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOTD in 1865:\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBaseball has a\u00a0long\u00a0history here in Minnesota.
