The Minnesota Twins have played an up-and-down season to this point. They currently sit at 15-20<\/a> but are coming off a weekend series victory on the road against the Boston Red Sox and have actually played above .500 baseball<\/a> since mid-April. Unfortunately, this team has a habit of stepping on its own toes.<\/p>\n That reality isn\u2019t limited to the field, it\u2019s true up and down the organization, all the way up to (and especially) ownership. Attendance continues to dip<\/a> and only winning can save it. If victories don\u2019t start coming more consistently, there\u2019s no doubt fan apathy will reach all-time levels.<\/p>\n Is Glen Taylor interested in buying the Minnesota Twins?<\/p>\n Outside of more wins, the only thing that could save fan interest would be some positive on the Minnesota Twins\u2019 sales process, a front that has been quiet for months. But is it possible we are waiting for the Minnesota Timberwolves ownership transition to become official before something happens on the Twins?<\/p>\n Well, in a roundabout way, it\u2019s possible. According to longtime Pioneer Press columnist Charley Walters<\/a>, it\u2019s possible local billionaire \u2014 and current Wolves majority owner \u2014 Glen Taylor may have interest in purchasing the Major League Baseball franchise that plays across the street from Target Center.<\/p>\n But if he is interested, the 84-year-old out of Mankato is declining comment until he is officially ousted as MN Timberwolves\u2019 majority owner.<\/p>\n Right now, the only thing left for the sale of the Minnesota Timberwolves to go through is a vote by NBA owners<\/a>. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Marc Lore is expected to be approved as majority owner. The $1.5 billion in sudden liquidity (according to Walters) would make Taylor worth nearly $4 billion with lots of liquid cash on hand.<\/p>\n Taylor, 84, who will be worth nearly $4 billion if he sells the Timberwolves-Lynx, has received several calls seeking his interest in buying the Twins. Now, it\u2019s important to not that MLB owners do not rake in profits hand-over-foot like NBA teams. Would Taylor see an investment in the Twins as worth it, especially knowing their books are at least somewhat upside down? We may be close to finding out.<\/p>\n If Taylor were to swoop in, then be as aggressive with the Twins as he has been recently with the Timberwolves, who knows what kind of roster he could build, being Major League Baseball has no salary cap. But again, we are getting ahead of ourselves, thinking that way.<\/p>\n Just get the sale done\u2026<\/p>\n The Pohlad family is asking for $1.7-$1.8B billion, despite Forbes saying it isn\u2019t only worth $1.4-$1.5 billion<\/a>, in part due to their being $100s of millions in debt on the books. While it appears the Pohlads remain serious about selling, it\u2019s still possible that a lack of interest leads to the Twins not being sold at all.<\/p>\n It\u2019s hard to fathom how catastrophic that could be for the Pohlads, from a fan response standpoint. Ultimately the Pohlads need to find a suitor for their baseball team, and the sooner they can do it, the sooner the franchise can turn the page.<\/p>\n Related: Other MLB Teams Eyeing Up Minnesota Twins Ace Pitcher Already<\/a><\/p>\n If that new owner is Glen Taylor, even if only in the interim, then so be it.
