This can\u2019t be a surprise. It certainly shouldn\u2019t be, if you\u2019ve followed the Yankees closely.<\/p>\n

The fact they were soundly outplayed by the Blue Jays<\/a> in the ALDS was typical of a season in which they often beat up on undermanned opponents<\/a> and were flattened by the best in the American League.<\/p>\n

Toronto outclassed them during the regular season and again in the ALDS, closing out the one-sided series with a relatively easy 5-2 victory<\/a> in The Bronx. The Blue Jays outscored the Yankees 34-19 in the four games, beating up on their pitching throughout, from the first pitch on Saturday to the last pitch on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

During the regular season, the Yankees were one game over .500 against teams above .500 and 49-24 against everyone else. They were 5-8 against the Blue Jays, 4-9 against the Red Sox, 2-4 against the Tigers and 3-3 against the Guardians.
